We have demonstrated the efficacy of the combination of intramolecular electrophilic ipso dearomatization of suitable aromatic compounds leading to spiro-substituted cyclohexa-2,5-dienones and intramolecular aza-Michael addition for the preparation of complex aza-heterocyclic systems.
