Аннотация: The comparative X ray diffraction study of racemic and (S) enantiomer of 7,8 difluoro 3 methyl 2,3 dihydro 4H [1,4]benzoxazine was carried out. The both forms of benzoxazine are crystallized in the orthorhombic crystal system, the (S) enantiomer is crystallized in the chiral space group P212121, while the racemate is crystallized in the centrosymmetric Pbca space group. The bond lengths and bond and torsional angles in the both molecules are almost equal. The packing of the racemate is characterized by a closer interaction of polar NH...О groups.

Аннотация: Small-molecule fluorescent sensors (1–5) for the recognition of nitroaromatic compounds, such as 2,4-dinitrotoluene and the explosive TNT, were obtained by using a three-step dehydrohalogenation cycloaddition protocol. The interaction of the receptors and nitroaromatics was studied both in solution and in the solid state by using fluorescence spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography, respectively. It is shown that the iptycene receptors 1–5 provide a cavity suitable for binding nitroaromatic compounds in an edge-to-face mode, rather than simple ring-stacking interactions. The results obtained inspired us to develop an inexpensive, reliable and robust sensor for vapour detection of explosives. Polymer nanofibres are particularly suitable for the production of such TNT sensors as they accelerate the mass exchange between the polymer and the vapours of TNT. Quenching of the sensors took place within 1 min compared to 10 min for a glass-slide assay. Hence, the sensor performance can be improved by optimising the matrix material and morphology without resynthesising the sensor moieties

Аннотация: Hybrid nanocomposite films containing silica (11.4 wt.%) or titania (18.8 wt.%) in the polymer matrix were prepared by the sol—gel method using the hydrolytic polycondensation of tetraethoxysilane and tetrabutoxysilane in a THF solution of aromatic polymer, polysulfone (PSF). The influence of the oxide nature and the film composition on the structure, the interaction of the polymer with oxides, hydrophilicity, and sorption—diffusion properties of the hybrid films were studied by FTIR spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, dynamic light scattering, and a complex of other physicochemical methods. The absence of chemical or intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the polymer and oxide particles in the PSF films was shown. The average size of the oxides (SiO2, 20 nm; TiO2, ~90 nm) in the films and roughness of their surface (~0.2—0.8 nm) were determined. The introduction of oxides into the polymer matrix increases the hydrophilic properties and the ability of the PSF films to swell in water; the diffusion coefficients of water and permeability of water vapor in the PSF films also increase. Titania also induces a more considerable change in the structure of the polymer matrix and more strongly affects the sorption—diffusion properties of the hybrid films in aqueous solutions of THF. All prepared nanocomposite films PSF/SiO2 and PSF/TiO2 are capable of extracting an organic component from aqueous solutions and can be used as sorbents and membrane films for the removal of organic substances from the aqueous medium

Аннотация: The interaction of 1,2,3,4-tetrachlorobenzene, 2,4,5-trichlorobiphenyl, 2,5,4′-trichlorobiphenyl, a mixture of 1,2,3- and 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, and industrial mixtures of polychlorinated biphenyls with potassium persulfate in the presence of potassium perfluorobutyrate has been investigated. The oxidation of highly chlorinated benzenes and biphenyls proceeds with lower conversion than that of the low-chlorinated compounds. The oxidation of the highly chlorinated aromatic substrates is not selective; the reaction mixture contains products of several competitive reactions: addition and elimination of radical species, disproportionation, isomerization, etc. The structures of the products have been determined by means of gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection

Аннотация: Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), also known by the trade name Sovol, are toxic industrial wastes. They have been subjected to chemical treatment by polyethylene glycols (PEGs) and potassium hydroxide. As a result of the interaction of the Sovol with various molecular mass PEGs (MMPEG-4 ∼ 200, MMPEG-22 ∼ 1000), water-soluble mixtures M1 and M2 containing mono(polyethylene glycol)oxy-derivatives (PCB-PEG-4 and PCB-PEG-22), polychlorobiphenylols, and unreacted PCB congeners (PCB 44, PCB 47, PCB 49, PCB 52, and PCB 66) were obtained. It was shown for the first time that mixtures M1 and M2 are susceptible to bacterial degradation without their fractionation. According to the gas-liquid chromatography with flame-ionization and mass-spectrometric detection, the Rhodococcus wratislaviensis KT112-7 strain degraded all of the chemical compounds occurring in the mixtures. In a 5-day experiment, it was found that the KT112-7 strain decomposes mono(polyethylene glycol)oxy-derivatives completely (by 100%) and polychlorobiphenylols and PCB congeners by 90–95% in the M1 and M2 mixtures. The culture medium did not contain transformation products, whereas free chlorine ions were accumulated (72–94% of the maximum possible amount). Thus, the use of the chemical modification and consecutive bacterial degradation provided an effective destruction of technical PCB mixtures with a high content of highly chlorinated congeners

Аннотация: New organic-inorganic materials based on products of interaction between sodium aminoprusside and polymer ligand (chitosan) have been synthesized. The composition of the obtained materials was characterized using the element analysis and X-ray diffraction; the Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and Thermogravimetric analysis data were used to propose the structure of the formed complexes. It was established that ion and ligand exchange were the main reactions at interaction of sodium aminoprusside with water-soluble chitosan salts. The comparative estimation of the sorption capacity with respect to cesium ions was performed for the synthesized complexes. It has been shown that the complex of chitosan with pentacyanoferrate(II) in the form of cobalt(II) salt has higher distribution coefficient with respect to Cs+ ions, as compared to cobalt aminoprusside. The maximum sorption capacity value for Cs+ was evaluated from the sorption isotherm and found to be equal to 0.3 mmol/g

The oxidative splitting of an azo-hydrazone group of 1-(2-hydroxy-(5-nitro)phenyl)-3-ethyl-5-(benzylbenzimidazolyl)formazans, a break in the C2-N1 bond, the interaction of o-hydroxyl group of aryl fragment with oxygen, and the formation of new 2-(phenoxy)benzimidazoles are found to occur in the presence of perchlorate iron(III).

Аннотация: Oxidation of cyclohexanone to ɛ-caprolactone with stable industrially manufactured hydrogen peroxide derivatives: adduct with urea (urea hydrogen peroxide), sodium perborate, sodium percarbonate (Persol), magnesium monoperphthalate (Dismozon) was studied. Oxidation with urea hydrogen peroxide is the most efficient in hexafluoroisopropanol in the case of preliminary removal of urea in the form of an oxalate. Oxidation with sodium perborate and percarbonate provides high yields in trifluoroacetic acid. The lowest cost process consists in interaction with sodium monoperphthalate (Persol and phthalic anhydride) in an aqueous medium

Аннотация: The complexation of 3,6-substituted 1,2,4,5-tetrazines with benzotriazole was studied theoretically based on the vibrational spectra. For model complexes, the energy was minimized by the geometrical parameters, and the spectral characteristics were calculated by the PM3 method. The shift of the bond vibration frequencies of the atoms involved in complexation after the formation of different various intermolecular contacts was determined. This made it possible to determine the type of intermolecular interaction and suggest the structures of the complexes

Аннотация: It is shown that S(N)(H) approach opens new possibilities in the synthesis of polyfunctional nitronyl and imino nitroxides. It is found that the interaction of 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-3-oxide-1-oxyl lithium salt Li1 with 3,6-diaryl-1,2,4-triazines leads to formation of the corresponding triazines bearing nitronyl nitroxide or imino nitroxide substituent at position 5 of the heterocycle. The reaction of Li1 with pyridazine-N-oxide gives rise to nitroxide with buten-3-ynyl substituent 5. Spin-labeled 5 could be readily transformed by the use of 1,3-dipolar and nucleophilic addition reactions, as well as oxidative coupling, that gives a large group of new paramagnets: 2-(1H-pyrazol-5-yl)vinyl-, 2-ethynylcyclopropyl-, 2-(3-(ethoxycarbonyl) isoxazol-5-yl)vinyl-, 1-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)but-3-ynyl-substituted nitronyl nitroxide and a diradical -2,2'-((1E,7E)-octa-1,7-dien-3,5-diyne-1,8-diyl)bis(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-3-oxide-1-oxyl). The new nitroxides were characterized by X-ray single crystal data, ESR and static magnetic susceptibility measurements

Аннотация: We report on the synthesis and temperature-dependent magnetic properties observed in an exchange-coupled copper(ii) dimer using X/Q-band Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy (9/34 GHz). It has been found that the zero-field splitting (D) in the dimer changes gradually by a factor close to two in the temperature range from T = 50 to 300 K. X-ray diffraction data show that this dimer consists of two five-coordinated copper ions, one of which has a highly asymmetric geometry intermediate between square pyramid and trigonal bipyramid. The copper-copper distance in the dimer is temperature-independent, whereas the degree of trigonality in an asymmetric unit decreases as the temperature is lowered. Therefore we suppose that the observed dependence D(T) originates from the interplay of different exchange interaction pathways driven by these thermal changes. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal weak ferromagnetic interactions, whose anisotropic parts should indeed be very sensitive to the subtle changes in the geometry and may result in apparent D(T). Аннотация: Polysiloxanes containing nonchelating 3-aminopropyl and chelating N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyl groups with the degree of functionalization of 28 and 24%, respectively, were prepared by sol–gel synthesis. The polysiloxanes obtained showed comparable activity in sorption of Pd(II), Pt(IV), Fe(III), Cd(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Mn(II), Pb(II), Ca(II), and Mg(II) ions from model multicomponent solutions. At pH 3,3-aminopropylpolysiloxane selectively takes up platinoid ions. The chelating structure of N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyl groups leads to a decrease in the selectivity of the interaction with Pd(II) ions but increases the affinity for Fe(III), Ni(II), and Cu(II). Preconcentration in the dynamic mode allows quantitative sorption of Pd(II) and Pt(IV), followed by virtually quantitative elution of the metal ions from the sorbent surface.
