Аннотация: To explain the chemical reactivity of polychlorinated biphenyls in nucleophilic (SN) and electrophilic (SE) substitutions, quantum chemical calculations were carried out at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of the Density Functional Theory in gas phase. Carbon atomic charges in biphenyl structure were calculated by the Atoms-in-Molecules method. Chemical hardness and global electrophilicity index parameters were determined for congeners. A comparison of calculated descriptors and experimental data for congener reactivity in the SN and SE reactions was made. It is shown that interactions in the SN mechanism are reactions of the hard acid-hard base type, these are the most effective in case of highly chlorinated substrates. To explain the congener reactivity in the SE reactions, correct descriptors were not established. The obtained results can be used to carry out chemical transformations of the polychlorinated biphenyls in order to prepare them for microbiological destruction or preservation

Аннотация: The behavior of 4-thienyl substituted pyrimidine ligands (L1-3) has been studied for the series of their reactions with various salts of 3d metals (Co, Zn, Ni, Cu) and platinoids (Pt, Pd). In particular, mononuclear Co(OTf)(2)(L1-3)(2)(H2O)(2)(MeCN)(2) (1), binuclear Co-2(Piv)(2)(L1-3)(4) (2a,b), Cu-2(Piv)(2)(L1-3)(2) (5a,b), heterometallic polynuclear Li2Co2(Piv)(6)(L1-3)(2) (4) and chelate [(L-1)Pd(OAc)](2) (6) complexes have been obtained. The structures of all complexes have been established by X-ray diffraction. Also magnetic properties of coordination compounds 1, 2, 4 and 5 have been studied in details. In particular, mononuclear Co(II) complexes I and 4 proved to exhibit paramagnetism with large positive zero-field splitting parameters. Dinuclear Co(II) complexes 2a,b show weak antiferromagnetic interactions. Dinuclear Cu(II) complexes 5a,b demonstrate strong antiferromagnetic superexchange interactions via four carboxylate bridges. Аннотация: Influenza viruses of types A and B cause periodic pandemics in the human population. The antiviral drugs approved to combat influenza virus infections are currently limited. We have investigated an effective novel inhibitor of human influenza A and B viruses, triazavirine {2-methylthio-6-nitro-1,2,4- triazolo[5,1-c]-1,2,4-triazine-7(4Í)-one} (TZV). TZV suppressed the replication of influenza virus in cell culture and in chicken chorioallantoic membranes, and it protected mice from death caused by type A and B influenza viruses. TZV was also effective against a rimantadine-resistant influenza virus strain and against avian influenza A virus H5N1 strains. The pharmacokinetic parameters and bioavailability of TZV were calculated after the administration of TZV to rabbits. The TZV metabolite AMTZV {2-methylthio-6-amino-1,2,4- triazolo[5,1-s]-1,2,4-triazin(e)-7(4Í)-one} was discovered inÍÅK 293T and Huh7 cell cultures, a liver homogenate, and rabbit blood after intragastric administration of TZV. AMTZV was nontoxic and inactive as an inhibitor of influenza virus in cell culture. Most likely, this metabolite is a product of TZV elimination

Аннотация: A significant role of the stress response to many different diseases prompted a search for new specialized and non-specialized anti-stress agents. This study examines the effect of the compound L17 from the group of 5-phenyl substituted-6H-1,3,4-thiadiazine-2-amines, on the manifestations of the stress response. The authors used a standard model of immobilization stress, in which an animal was immobilized on its back for 6 ha day. Parameters of the morphological and functional states of the organs studied were measured and biochemical and enzyme-immunoassays were carried out on the first and second days. This study reveals that the main mechanism by which the L17 compound mediates of its anti-stress was by activation of macrophages on the second day of the experiments and the inhibition of apoptosis in the thymus. The results enable us to suggest that the compound L17 does not improve resistance to stress; however, it does lower the reaction to stress.

Аннотация: A complex of parameters of the blood system of BALB/c mice was studied using alkanes symmetrically and asymmetrically replaced with heterocyclic amines, which protected 85–100% of mice after total exposure to 137Cs γ-radiation at the minimum lethal dose. The ability of substances of different structures to protect hematopoietic tissue in in vivo and in vitro experiments has been established. Differences in the rates of post-radiation repopulation of blood cells in protected mice were revealed, which are associated with the survival of the organism. It was found that the response to the effect of the investigated substances at the level of the organism (acute toxicity, anti-radiation activity, oxygen consumption by the body) and hematopoietic tissue (changes in cellularity in the hematopoietic organs and peripheral blood) depends on the structure of the substance (length of the aliphatic chain, acidic component).

Аннотация: The possibility for separating enantiomers of a number of practically significant 2-aryloxycarboxylic acids was studied by normal- and reversed-phase HPLC on popular chiral stationary phases. The best separation parameters were achieved on the chiral phases with the polysaccharide base Chiralcel OD-H and Chiralpack AD under the normal-phase HPLC conditions. The (S)- and (R)-enantiomers of 2-(1-naphthyloxy)- and 2-(2-iodophenoxy)propionic acids with enantiomeric excess ee 99% were isolated using preparative chiral HPLC.

Аннотация: Modified halloysite nanotubes (HNTs-Cl) were synthesized by a coupling reaction with (3-chloropropyl) trimethoxysilane (CPTMS). The incorporation of chloro-silane onto HNTs surface creates HNTs-Cl, which has great chemical activity and is considered a good candidate as an active site that reacts with other active molecules in order to create new materials with great applications in chemical engineering and nanotechnology. The value of this work lies in the fact that improving the degree of grafting of chloro-silane onto the HNT’s surface has been accomplished by incorporation of HNTs with CPTMS under different experimental conditions. Many parameters, such as the dispersing media, the molar ratio of HNTs/CPTMS/H2O, refluxing time, and the type of catalyst were studied. The greatest degree of grafting was accomplished by using toluene as a medium for the grafting process, with a molar ratio of HNTs/CPTMS/H2O of 1:1:3, and a refluxing time of 4 h. The addition of 7.169 mmol of triethylamine (Et3N) and 25.97 mmol of ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) led to an increase in the degree of grafting of CPTMS onto the HNT’s surface.
