Аннотация: Biocatalysts based on the methylotrophic yeast Ogataea polymorpha VKM Y-2559 immobilized in polymer-based nanocomposites for the treatment of methanol-containing wastewater were developed. The organosilica composites with different matrix-to-filler ratios derived from TEOS/MTES in the presence of PEG (SPEG-composite) and from silicon-polyethylene glycol (STPEG-composite) differ in the structure of the silicate phase and its distribution in the composite matrix. Methods of fluorescent and scanning microscopy first confirmed the formation of an organosilica shell around living yeast cells during sol-gel bio-STPEG-composite synthesis. Biosensors based on the yeast cells immobilized in STPEG- and SPEG-composites are characterized by effective operation: the coefficient of sensitivity is 0.85 ± 0.07 mgO2 × min−1 × mmol−1 and 0.87 ± 0.05 mgO2 × min−1 × mmol−1, and the long-term stability is 10 and 15 days, respectively. The encapsulated microbial cells are protected from UV radiation and the toxic action of heavy metal ions. Biofilters based on the developed biocatalysts are characterized by high effectiveness in the utilization of methanol-rich wastewater—their oxidative power reached 900 gO2/(m3 × cycle), and their purification degree was up to 60%.

Аннотация: A novel biologically active nanocomposite glycerohydrogel based on two biocompatible precursors, silicon and iron glycerolates, was synthesized by the sol—gel method in the presence of chitosan (Ch). The composition and structural features of the gel were characterized by advanced analytical methods including transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and atomic emission spectroscopy. It was shown that iron(iii) monoglycerolate undergoes partial hydrolysis under the gelation conditions and exists as a separate nanoscale phase along with the hydrolysis products in cells of the 3D Si-containing polymeric gel network. This network is formed as a result of incomplete hydrolysis of silicon glycerolates in excess glycerol followed by homo- and heterofunctional condensation of silanol groups with the formation of Si-O-Si units containing residual glyceroxy groups at the silicon atom. Chitosan forms numerous intermolecular bonds with the 3D gel network, accelerates the process of gelation, makes the gel morphostructure more ordered, and increases the stability of the gel. The Si-Fe-Ch-containing glycerohydrogel is nontoxic and possesses hemostatic and wound-healing activity, being a promising topical medication for medical and veterinary practice.

Аннотация: Novel pharmacologically active silicon—titanium—zinc- and silicon—titanium—boron-containing glycerohydrogels were synthesized by the sol—gel method using silicon, titanium, zinc, and boron glycerolates as biocompatible precursors. The compositions and structural features of the hydrogels were studied by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy, atomic emission spectrometry, and elemental analysis methods. The disperse phase and liquid water—glycerol medium of the hydrogels were isolated by cold exhaustive extraction with ethanol and characterized. The 3D polymeric network of the gels is formed by the products of hydrolysis and subsequent (co)condensation of silicon-/silicon—boron-containing precursors. Titanium and zinc glycerolates undergo no hydrolytic transformations under gelation conditions and exist in the cells of the 3D polymeric network in the form of amorphous nanoparticles that are not linked to the network by covalent bonds. Models of the structures were proposed. The gels are characterized by antimicrobial activity, which is more pronounced for the silicon—titanium—boron-containing gel, and they can be considered as promising drugs for topical treatment prepared by the simple, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective method.

Аннотация: Using coprecipitation, a sol–sol method, and molecular layering, we have synthesized SiO2–ZrO2 composites with SiO2 : ZrO2 ratios from 1 : 1 to 9 : 1 and a large specific surface area, which increases with growth silicon-containing component concentration. Using adsorption of Hammett indicators, we have assessed the concentration of acid–base centers in the pK range 1.3–9.6, which has been shown to vary from 68 to 160 μmol/g. Elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy data have demonstrated the presence of not only water but also nitrate ions and carbon dioxide on the surface of the samples. It has been shown that the use of nanoparticulate SiO2–ZrO2 oxides as heterogeneous catalysts—promoters for (2S,4R)-4-hydroxyprolyl-(S)-1-phenylethylamine trifluoroacetate, a chiral inducer in the asymmetric Biginelli reaction, makes it possible to raise ee (enantiomeric excess) from 39 to 68% and the reaction yield from 29 to 55%.

Biginelli reaction was investigated in the presence of N-​[(2S,​4R)​-​4-​hydroxyprolyl]​-​(S)​-​1-​phenylethylamine as chiral inducer and silicon, titanium or aluminum oxides (individual and mixed, bulk and nanosized) as heterogeneous catalysts. The synthesis of Et (4R)​-​6-​methyl-​2-​oxo-​4-​phenyl-​1,​2,​3,​4-​tetrahydropyrimidine-​5-​carboxylate from benzaldehyde, urea and Et acetoacetate has been described. It has been shown that all studied oxides improve chemo- and stereoselectivity of the Biginelli reaction.

Аннотация: The formation of organic/inorganic hydrogels based on silicon and titanium polyethylene glycolates, new biocompatible water-soluble precursors in sol-gel processing, was investigated. The influence of different factors on the gelation process, such as excess of PEG, water molar content, pH of medium, electrolyte additives, was investigated in comparison with silicon-and titanium-glycerol precursors. The specific features of gelation for each type of precursor were revealed. It has been determined that titanium polyethylene glycolates synthesized and used in the excess of PEG formed transparent polymeric hydrogels resistant to syneresis under certain conditions. The titanium polyethylene glycolates synthesized without excess of PEG formed turbid heterogeneous colloidal gels. In the case of silicon polyethylene glycolates the hydrogels obtained were polymeric. Dynamic light scattering was used to confirm the polymeric or colloidal type of gelation. The solid and liquid phases of polymeric silicon- and titanium-polyethylene glycol hydrogels were separated by exhaustive extraction. The solid phase was characterized by combined thermal analysis with simultaneous quadruple mass spectrometry, XRD, IR spectroscopy, and liquid phase-atomic emission spectroscopy. The structural features of polymeric gels were investigated by SEM and TEM methods. The cross-linking density of polymeric hydrogels was evaluated using Flory-Rehner theory based on the mechanical properties of swollen networks of flexible polymeric chains

Аннотация: It was established with the use of electron and ESR spectroscopic methods that in the presence of sodium sulfate, the extraction of vanadium (IV) with di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid takes place by a cation-exchange mechanism giving rise to two complex compounds of vanadium (IV) oxocation with sulfuric and di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid anions. The vanadium (IV) oxocation sulfate complex extracted in the solid state was examined with X-ray structural analysis. It was shown that the vanadium (IV) oxocation sulfate complex trihydrate crystallizes in the centrosymmetrical space group to form dimers with bridging sulfate groups

The optimum conditions for hydrogel formation and their composition were determined. Аннотация: Formation of organic/inorganic hydrogels based on silicon– and titanium–glycerol precursors synthesized by transesterification of alkoxy derivatives in excess of glycerol was investigated. The precursors in excess of glycerol and obtained gels were studied by chemical and physical methods including gelation kinetics, IR spectroscopy, XRD, dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering, mechanical deformation, which disclosed the basic difference in the gelation mechanism and structure of network in the hydrogels. Due to this difference, the gelation time of silicon– and titanium–glycerol precursors depended on pH or electrolyte addition in an opposite way. In the wide pH range, silicon–glycerol hydrogel was a polymeric single-phase system formed by the polymeric network homogeneously swollen in liquid water/glycerol medium. Flory–Rehner theory applied to the elastic modulus of these gels gave 40–180 monomer base units in the subchains of the network depending on water content in the gel. The mechanism of networking was three-dimensional polycondensation promoted by the electrically charged functional groups attached to the flexible polymeric chains. Electrolyte solutions provided the gelation according to Hofmeister series. Titanium–glycerol hydrogels were heterogeneous colloid systems at pH 1.5 and single-phase polymeric gels at lower pH. Electrolyte solutions provided the gelation according to Schultze–Hardy rule

Аннотация: An efficient one-pot method for the preparation of 2-nitro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene containing sulfides from 1,1?-disulfanediylbis[2-nitro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene] is proposed. The corresponding enantiomerically enriched sulfoxides with up to 78% enantiomeric excess are prepared by the asymmetric oxidation of sulfides using a modified Sharpless method. Аннотация: Biologically active hydrogels based on silicon polyolates, which are the products of reactions of tetraethoxy- and methyltriethoxysilanes with polyols (1,2-propanediol, glycerol, polyethylene glycol), were synthesized. The optimal conditions for hydrogel formation and hydrogel composition were determined. The acute toxicity and transcutaneous and wound-healing activities of the synthesized compounds were studied. The experimental results show that hydrogels based on silicon polyolates can be recommended for further preclinical and clinical tests with the purpose of their use in medical practice both as self-sufficient agents and ointment bases of pharmaceutical compositions with wound-healing, regenerative, and transcutaneous action

Аннотация: 1H and 29Si NMR spectroscopy showed that the product of the reaction of dimethyldiethoxysilane with glycerol in the molar ratio 1: 2 is an equilibrium mixture of dimethyldiglyceroxysilane and low-molecular-weight condensation products. The change of viscosity of silicon dimethylglycerolates, synthesized using different excesses of glycerol, versus time was studied by viscosimetry. Composition of products of hydrolysis and condensation of silicon dimethylglycerolates is determined by their concentration in the starting aqueous solutions
