Аннотация: A high granularity scintillator hadronic calorimeter prototype is described. The calorimeter is based on a novel photodetector - Silicon Photo-Multiplier (SiPM). The main parameters of SiPM are discussed as well as readout cell construction and optimization. The experience with a small prototype production and testing is described. A new 8 k channel prototype is being manufactured now.

Аннотация: Zol-gel process was used to synthesize equilibrium mixtures of mono-, di-, and trimester derived from trimethylolpropane and perfluorocarboxylic acids. The elution order of the components of the mixtures from a weakly polar HP-5 column was established. The mass spectra of the synthesized compounds were studied. The GC-MS parameters of the products were compared with the respective parameters of their nonfluorinated analogs. The characteristics of the fluorinated esters have features determined by the esterification degree and the nature of the perfluoroalkyl groups, due to which these compounds can be identified in mixtures

Аннотация: Crown ethers form strong proton-acceptor complexes with CF3COOH or C4F9COOH that undergo thermal decarboxylation at 200–260 °C which results in 60–80% of CF3H or C4F9H (including up to 20 % of a mixture of C4F8). Critical parameters of the process were determined in relation to the temperature and amount of crown ether. The relative activities of different crown ethers in decarboxylation were also established. A scheme is proposed that explains the effect of the structure of crown ethers on this reaction. Аннотация: The complexation of 3,6-substituted 1,2,4,5-tetrazines with benzotriazole was studied theoretically based on the vibrational spectra. For model complexes, the energy was minimized by the geometrical parameters, and the spectral characteristics were calculated by the PM3 method. The shift of the bond vibration frequencies of the atoms involved in complexation after the formation of different various intermolecular contacts was determined. Аннотация: Influenza viruses of types A and B cause periodic pandemics in the human population. The antiviral drugs approved to combat influenza virus infections are currently limited. We have investigated an effective novel inhibitor of human influenza A and B viruses, triazavirine {2-methylthio-6-nitro-1,2,4-triazolo[5,1-c]-1,2,4-triazine-7(4I)-one} (TZV). TZV suppressed the replication of influenza virus in cell culture and in chicken chorioallantoic membranes, and it protected mice from death caused by type A and B influenza viruses. TZV was also effective against a rimantadine-resistant influenza virus strain and against avian influenza A virus H5N1 strains. The pharmacokinetic parameters and bioavailability of TZV were calculated after the administration of TZV to rabbits. The TZV metabolite AMTZV {2-methylthio-6-amino-1,2,4-triazolo[5,1-s]-1,2,4-triazin(e)-7(4I)-one} was discovered in IAK 293T and Huh7 cell cultures, a liver homogenate, and rabbit blood after intragastric administration of TZV. AMTZV was nontoxic and inactive as an inhibitor of influenza virus in cell culture. Most likely, this metabolite is a product of TZV elimination

Аннотация: Organic-inorganic hybrid sorbents based on a polysiloxane modified with amino and thiourea groups have been synthesized for the first time by a sol-gel process. The structure of the sorbents has been determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and IR spectroscopy. Their thermal stability has been assessed and the mechanism of their degradation has been elucidated. The structural and adsorption parameters of the sorbents have been evaluated. The results demonstrate that the introduction of amino groups into the structure of the polysiloxane yields an effective sorbent for Pb(II) extraction and enables Cu(II) and Zn(II) separation from Co(II) and Ni(II). The thiourea-modified polysiloxane selectively sorbs Bi(III) (0.1-2 M HCl), Pt(IV) (pH 2), and Pb(II) (pH 3). Divalent Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn can be sorbed from alkaline solutions

Аннотация: To explain the chemical reactivity of polychlorinated biphenyls in nucleophilic (SN) and electrophilic (SE) substitutions, quantum chemical calculations were carried out at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of the Density Functional Theory in gas phase. Carbon atomic charges in biphenyl structure were calculated by the Atoms-in-Molecules method. Chemical hardness and global electrophilicity index parameters were determined for congeners. A comparison of calculated descriptors and experimental data for congener reactivity in the SN and SE reactions was made. It is shown that interactions in the SN mechanism are reactions of the hard acid-hard base type, these are the most effective in case of highly chlorinated substrates. To explain the congener reactivity in the SE reactions, correct descriptors were not established. The obtained results can be used to carry out chemical transformations of the polychlorinated biphenyls in order to prepare them for microbiological destruction or preservation

PYRIMIDINE -- CYCLOPALLADATION -- MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES
Аннотация: The behavior of 4-thienyl substituted pyrimidine ligands (L1-3) has been studied for the series of their reactions with various salts of 3d metals (Co, Zn, Ni, Cu) and platinoids (Pt, Pd). In particular, mononuclear Co(OTf)(2)(L1-3)(2)(H2O)(2)(MeCN)(2) (1), binuclear Co-2(Piv)(2)(L1-3)(4) (2a,b), Cu-2(Piv)(2)(L1-3)(2) (5a,b), heterometallic polynuclear Li2Co2(Piv)(6)(L1-3)(2) (4) and chelate [(L-1)Pd(OAc)](2) (6) complexes have been obtained. The structures of all complexes have been established by X-ray diffraction. Also magnetic properties of coordination compounds 1, 2, 4 and 5 have been studied in details. In particular, mononuclear Co(II) complexes I and 4 proved to exhibit paramagnetism with large positive zero-field splitting parameters. Dinuclear Co(II) complexes 2a,b show weak antiferromagnetic interactions. Dinuclear Cu(II) complexes 5a,b demonstrate strong antiferromagnetic superexchange interactions via four carboxylate bridges.
