Аннотация: The performance of the 200*2.5*1 cm3 plastic scintillator strip with wavelength shifting fiber read out by two novel photodetectors called Silicon PhotoMultipliers (SiPMs) is discussed. The advantages of SiPM relative to the traditional multichannel photomultiplier are shown. Light yield and light attenuation measurements are presented. This technique can be used in muon or calorimeter systems.

Аннотация: A series of new hybrid organo-inorganic sorbents with the 3-aminopropionate chelating group was synthesized. The synthesis includes the copolycondensation (sol—gel method) of tetraethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, and several modifiers (MeSi(OEt)3, EtSi(OEt)3, Ti(OEt)4, AlONO3, ZrOCl2) followed by carboxyethylation with acrylic acid. The obtained chelating sorbents were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetry. The N-carboxylated sorbents have a higher sorption capacity with respect to metal ions (0.5–0.9 mmol g?1, pH 6.3, NH4OAc, 20 °C) than the starting sorbents with the primary amino group (0.05–0.2 mmol g?1) and manifest high selectivity for copper(II) ion extraction

Аннотация: Biologically active hydrogels based on silicon polyolates, which are the products of reactions of tetraethoxy- and methyltriethoxysilanes with polyols (1,2-propanediol, glycerol, polyethylene glycol), were synthesized. The optimal conditions for hydrogel formation and hydrogel composition were determined. The acute toxicity and transcutaneous and wound-healing activities of the synthesized compounds were studied. The experimental results show that hydrogels based on silicon polyolates can be recommended for further preclinical and clinical tests with the purpose of their use in medical practice both as self-sufficient agents and ointment bases of pharmaceutical compositions with wound-healing, regenerative, and transcutaneous action

Аннотация: 1H and 29Si NMR spectroscopy showed that the product of the reaction of dimethyldiethoxysilane with glycerol in the molar ratio 1: 2 is an equilibrium mixture of dimethyldiglyceroxysilane and low-molecular-weight condensation products. The change of viscosity of silicon dimethylglycerolates, synthesized using different excesses of glycerol, versus time was studied by viscosimetry. Аннотация: Formation of organic/inorganic hydrogels based on silicon– and titanium–glycerol precursors synthesized by transesterification of alkoxy derivatives in excess of glycerol was investigated. The precursors in excess of glycerol and obtained gels were studied by chemical and physical methods including gelation kinetics, IR spectroscopy, XRD, dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering, mechanical deformation, which disclosed the basic difference in the gelation mechanism and structure of network in the hydrogels. Due to this difference, the gelation time of silicon– and titanium–glycerol precursors depended on pH or electrolyte addition in an opposite way. In the wide pH range, silicon–glycerol hydrogel was a polymeric single-phase system formed by the polymeric network homogeneously swollen in liquid water/glycerol medium. Flory–Rehner theory applied to the elastic modulus of these gels gave 40–180 monomer base units in the subchains of the network depending on water content in the gel. The mechanism of networking was three-dimensional polycondensation promoted by the electrically charged functional groups attached to the flexible polymeric chains. Electrolyte solutions provided the gelation according to Hofmeister series. Titanium–glycerol hydrogels were heterogeneous colloid systems at pH > 1.5 and single-phase polymeric gels at lower pH. Electrolyte solutions provided the gelation according to Schultze–Hardy rule

Аннотация: An efficient one-pot method for the preparation of 2-nitro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene containing sulfides from 1,1?-disulfanediylbis[2-nitro-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzene] is proposed. The corresponding enantiomerically enriched sulfoxides with up to 78% enantiomeric excess are prepared by the asymmetric oxidation of sulfides using a modified Sharpless method. Аннотация: It was established with the use of electron and ESR spectroscopic methods that in the presence of sodium sulfate, the extraction of vanadium (IV) with di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid takes place by a cation-exchange mechanism giving rise to two complex compounds of vanadium (IV) oxocation with sulfuric and di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid anions. The vanadium (IV) oxocation sulfate complex extracted in the solid state was examined with X-ray structural analysis. It was shown that the vanadium (IV) oxocation sulfate complex trihydrate crystallizes in the centrosymmetrical space group to form dimers with bridging sulfate groups
