Аннотация: This paper represents results on investigating the dynamics of boiling and disintegration of superheated liquid films and jets. The first part deals with experimental study of boiling liquid outflow through short cylindrical and slit channels. Evolution of disintegration of a hot water jet flow is observed both at low and moderate superheating and at high and limit superheating, and also for vaporization mechanisms corresponding to these superheatings. Peculiarities of disintegration of jets through slit and cylindrical channels are noticed. Results on measuring the reactive thrust of the jet through a slit channel under different geometrical conditions behind the channel outlet are represented. The 1/f fluctuations in transient regimes of superheated liquid boiling and in transient regimes of behavior of the jet shape are found. The second part of this article represents results on experimental investigation of nonsteady heat transfer and dynamics of the development of crisis phenomena at boiling of a falling subcooled liquid film in the conditions of stepwise heat release. The experimental data were obtained using synchronized high-speed infrared thermography and video. It is shown that with growth and condensation of vapor bubbles, on the liquid film interface appear large-amplitude waves that lead to considerably increasing local intensity of heat transfer. New data on the boiling incipience temperature in a subcooled liquid film, depending on the heat flux density, are obtained. It is found that the development of boiling crisis is a result of appearance of local dry patches and their subsequent growth by the mechanism of longitudinal thermal conductivity in the heat transfer wall as the equilibrium heat flux density is exceeded

Аннотация: The behavior of the jet recoil of boiling water discharging through a short cylindrical nozzle into the atmosphere and jet shape under high and limit superheating was experimentally studied. There was a complete breakup of the jet under both the realization of intensive heterogeneous nucleation (explosive boiling-up) in the flow and the presence of an adjacent plane behind the nozzle outlet. The complete jet breakup was accompanied by a sharp decrease of the jet recoil (the crisis of the recoil force). An explanation of the observed phenomena was given with the involvement of the Coanda effect. In both the transient regimes of boiling-up and the transition to the complete jet breakup 1/f fluctuations were observed. They pointed to the instability and possibility of large-scale outburst in the flow

Аннотация: Abstract Thermal pulsations in a transition from a nucleate to a film regime of water boiling on a wire heater with a periodic Joule heat release have been studied experimentally. At frequencies of the periodic action smaller than 0.1 Hz the intermittency of the nucleate and film boiling regimes was observed. In this case the amplitude of thermal pulsations increased. The experiments with an additional noise source were carried out. With an increase in the intensity of the noise the power of the output periodic mode increased and reaching the maximum began to decrease. The results are interpreted as stochastic resonance when the periodic component of pulsations increases in the presence of noise. The results show that in a complex system with nonequilibrium phase transitions there can occur both the extreme fluctuations with 1/f power spectrum and stochastic resonance under external periodic action.

Аннотация: The investigation of transient modes of water boiling on a wire heater reveals the presence of random vibrations with the frequency dependence of power spectra of S ∼ f -α, where the exponent α has values in the range 0.8 ≤ α 2. Large-scale low-frequency fluctuations exhibiting the property of scale invariance, the duration of which is distributed by the power law P ∼ τ-β, are present in experimental realizations of random processes describing thermal fluctuations. The properties of such fluctuation processes are described using two nonlinear stochastic differential equations which describe the interaction between different phase transitions. Relations of dynamic scaling are determined between the critical exponents which define the frequency dependence of the power spectra of fluctuations α and of the distribution function of the amplitudes of extreme low-frequency fluctuations β. It is demonstrated that the critical exponents are related by the relation α + β

From experimental realizations, large-scale low frequency pulsations characterized by scale invariance, which duration is distributed according to the power law, have been distinguished. The results are explained on the basis of mathematical model for the rise of scale invariant fluctuations with 1/ f α power spectrum in the system of two nonlinear stochastic differential equations describing interaction of heterogeneous phase transitions. Distribution of extreme low frequency emissions obtained from numerical solutions to stochastic equations takes the power series form. Correlations of dynamic scaling between critical indicators determining frequency dependence of pulsations power spectra α and distribution functions of extreme low frequency pulsation amplitudes β have been determined. It is shown that both in the experiments on acoustic cavitation of water and in the theoretical model of interacting phase transitions critical indicators are bound with the correlation α + β = 2. Spectra of fluctuation power are determined in the experiments simpler and more accurately than the function of extreme amplitudes distribution. In case when only one frequency dependence of fluctuation capacity spectra is known correlations between indicators serve to obtain information on the distribution of large scale emissions and to estimate critical amplitudes.

Correlations of dynamic scaling between critical indicators determining frequency dependence of pulsations power spectra α and distribution functions of extreme low frequency pulsation amplitudes β have been determined. It is shown that both in the experiments on acoustic cavitation of water and in the theoretical model of interacting phase transitions critical indicators are bound with the correlation α + β = 2. Spectra of fluctuation power are determined in the experiments simpler and more accurately than the function of extreme amplitudes distribution. In case when only one frequency dependence of fluctuation capacity spectra is known correlations between indicators serve to obtain information on the distribution of large scale emissions and to estimate critical amplitudes.

Аннотация: The investigation of transient modes of water boiling on a wire heater reveals the presence of random vibrations with the frequency dependence of power spectra of S ∼ f -α, where the exponent α has values in the range 0.8 ≤ α 2. Large-scale low-frequency fluctuations exhibiting the property of scale invariance, the duration of which is distributed by the power law P ∼ τ-β, are present in experimental realizations of random processes describing thermal fluctuations. The properties of such fluctuation processes are described using two nonlinear stochastic differential equations which describe the interaction between different phase transitions. Relations of dynamic scaling are determined between the critical exponents which define the frequency dependence of the power spectra of fluctuations α and of the distribution function of the amplitudes of extreme low-frequency fluctuations β. It is demonstrated that the critical exponents are related by the relation α + β

Аннотация: Results obtained in experimental investigating the characteristics of superheated liquid jet discharging under different nonequilibrium conditions are presented. The cases of liquid discharge from a high-pressure chamber and under gravitational jet formation conditions are considered. Different mechanisms of liquid flash boiling with heating growing up to limit superheating are identified in the case of liquid discharging from the high-pressure chamber. Dependences of the reactive force and the jet shape on the value of liquid overheating in a flow are presented. It is shown that the rapidly decreasing value of the reactive force of the jet is connected with its complete disintegration caused by homogeneous nucleation and by the presence of a normal wall behind the outlet from the channel. The parameters of two-phase jet stability in the conditions of gravitational falling, the flow rates, and the size of droplet dispersion zones depend substantially on the shape of holes and the heat flux density. Pronounced effects of partial or full blocking of the holes as a result of soluble impurities deposition in the regimes of cryogenic liquid evaporation or boiling when vapor cavities are formed in the channel are observed in the conditions of long-term discharging under nonadiabatic conditions. This leads to complete disintegration of the jet and uncontrollable reduction of the flow rate through the hole up to full blocking of the latter
