Аннотация: We present the results of experimental study of an intensive source of wide-band 1/f noise whose generation appears in a system of two interacting nonequilibrium phase transitions. Such a process has been realized in the region of superposition of a superconductor-normal conductor phase transition on a liquid-vapor crisis transition in a boiling cooler. A mathematical model describing phase transitions in a dynamical system with two interacting order parameters, converting "white" noise into two stationary stochastic processes with 1/f and 1/f(2) spectra has been suggested. The properties of model oscillations with 1/f spectrum are qualitatively adequate to those observed in experiment. The characteristic difference of model oscillations with a 1/f(2) spectrum from classic random walks has also been noted

Аннотация: The results are given of a theoretical investigation of heat transfer from thin wires to emulsions in which the disperse phase is low-boiling compared to the dispersion medium. A special feature of heat transfer to such emulsions is observed in the mode of nucleate boiling, when only the droplets of the disperse phase of emulsion are boiling. The transition from the convective mode of heat transfer to nucleate boiling requires high values of temperature gradient ? T = T W ? T 0 at which the temperature of the heat-transfer surface T W is higher than the temperature T S of saturated vapors of the disperse phase by 100 °C and more. Here, T 0 is the temperature of the heat-transfer agent away from the heat-transfer surface. Note that, for pure liquids and solutions, the value of delay of the beginning of boiling ? T i = T W ? T S as a rule does not exceed 1–5 °C. Another feature of heat transfer to the emulsions being treated is a wide temperature range of the mode of nucleate boiling (over 100 °C); the upper limit of this temperature range is defined by the temperature of transition to film boiling of the dispersion medium of the emulsion being investigated that has already boiled by this instant of time. The value of delay of the beginning of boiling is affected significantly by additions of surfactants and adsorbents.

Data on the thermodynamic properties (P, rho, T properties, heat capacity, ultrasonic velocity and attenuation, volume viscosity) of cryogenic liquids in a metastable liquids is discussed. Explosive boiling phenomena connected with large superheats of cryogenic liquids are considered, and the discharge of cryogenic liquids through short tubes and the heat interaction of cold liquid droplets with a hot surface are investigated

Аннотация: Change of the shape of a boiling-up liquid jet flowing from a high-pressure vessel at high superheatings was investigated experimentally. Mechanisms of volumetric heterogeneous and homogeneous nucleation are distinguished and their connection with critical modes of outflow is determined. Results of the experimental study of recoil of boiling-up liquid jets in a thermodynamically strong nonequilibrium mode of outflow are presented. The dynamics of vapor content fluctuations is studied by a method of photometry of passed laser radiation. Fluctuations of pressure in a superheated liquid jet at various mechanisms of vapor formation are measured by a method of strain metering. It was found that in intense volumetric boiling-up of a superheated liquid jet the power spectrum of fluctuations has a low-frequency component (flicker-noise) which diverges according to the 1/f law. This effect is related to nonequilibrium phase transitions in the system

Аннотация: Loop Heat Pipes (LHPs) can transport very large thermal power loads, over long distances, through flexible, small diameter tubes and gravitational heads. While recent transported as much as 1500 W, the peak heat flux through a LHP's evaporator has been limited to about 0.07 MW/m(2). This limitation is due to the arrangement of vapor passages next to the heat load which is one of the conditions necessary to ensure self priming of the device. This paper describes work aimed at raising this limit by threefold to tenfold. Two approaches were pursued. One optimized the vapor passage geometry for the high heat flux conditions. The geometry improved the heat flow into the wick and working fluid. This approach also employed a finer pored wick to support higher vapor flow losses. The second approach used a bidisperse wick material within the circumferential vapor passages. The bidisperse material increased the thermal conductivity and the evaporative surface area in the region of highest heat flux, while providing a flow path for the vapor. Proof-of-concept devices were fabricated and tested for each approach. Both devices operated as designed and both demonstrated operation at a heat flux of 0.70 MW/m(2) This performance exceeded the known state of the art by a factor of more than six for both conventional heat pipes and for loop heat pipes using ammonia. In addition, the bidisperse-wick device demonstrated boiling heat transfer coefficients up to 100,000 W/m(2).K, and the fine pored device demonstrated an orientation independence with its performance essentially unaffected by whether its evaporator was positioned above, below or level with the condenser
