Аннотация: Приведено описание экспериментальной установки , позволяющей реализовать цепную активацию центров кипения в капельках перегретой жидкости, что наблюдалось ранее только в опытах по изучению теплоотдачи при кипении эмульсии с низкокипящей дисперсной фазой. Результаты исследования обсуждаются в рамках предложенной ранее авторами модели, в которой центрами кипения являются флокулы, состоящие из нескольких частиц коллоидного размера и адсорбирующие растворенный газ.

Аннотация: The results are given of a theoretical investigation of heat transfer from thin wires to emulsions in which the disperse phase is low-boiling compared to the dispersion medium. A special feature of heat transfer to such emulsions is observed in the mode of nucleate boiling, when only the droplets of the disperse phase of emulsion are boiling. The transition from the convective mode of heat transfer to nucleate boiling requires high values of temperature gradient ? T = T W ? T 0 at which the temperature of the heat-transfer surface T W is higher than the temperature T S of saturated vapors of the disperse phase by 100 °C and more. Here, T 0 is the temperature of the heat-transfer agent away from the heat-transfer surface. Note that, for pure liquids and solutions, the value of delay of the beginning of boiling ? T i = T W ? T S as a rule does not exceed 1–5 °C. Another feature of heat transfer to the emulsions being treated is a wide temperature range of the mode of nucleate boiling (over 100 °C); the upper limit of this temperature range is defined by the temperature of transition to film boiling of the dispersion medium of the emulsion being investigated that has already boiled by this instant of time. The value of delay of the beginning of boiling is affected significantly by additions of surfactants and adsorbents.

Аннотация: The heat transfer from thin wires to emulsions with a disperse phase formed from a liquid whose boiling temperature is much lower than the boiling temperature of the disperse medium was investigated. Experiments were conducted at atmospheric pressure on vertical and horizontal wires from 50 to 100 ?m in diameter with n-pentane/glycerine, diethyl ether/water, and freon-113/water and water/oil emulsions.??It was possible to describe the experimental data obtained by one analytical dependence Nu = AArPrM?1[1 ? exp(?JVt)]. The dependence presented was obtained from the proposed model of the chain branched activation of boiling centers in droplets of a superheated liquid. In this case the coefficient J acquires the meaning of the activation rate of these centers.??

Аннотация: The method of molecular dynamics simulation has been used to investigate the phase decay of a metastable Lennard-Jones face-centered cubic crystal at positive and negative pressures. It is shown that at high degrees of metastability, crystal decay proceeds through the spontaneous formation and growth of new-phase nuclei. It has been found that there exists a certain boundary temperature. Below this temperature, the crystal phase disintegrates as the result of formation of voids, and above, as a result of formation of liquid droplets. The boundary temperature corresponds to the temperature of cessation of a crystal–liquid phase equilibrium when the melting line comes in contact with the spinodal of the stretched liquid. The results of the simulations are interpreted in the framework of classical nucleation theory. The thermodynamics of phase transitions in solids has been examined with allowance for the elastic energy of stresses arising owing to the difference in the densities of the initial and the forming phases. As a result of the action of elastic forces, at negative pressures, the boundary of the limiting superheating (stretching) of a crystal approaches the spinodal, on which the isothermal bulk modulus of dilatation becomes equal to zero. At the boundary of the limiting superheating (stretching), the shape of liquid droplets and voids is close to the spherical one
