Аннотация: The phenomenon of spontaneous bubble nucleation in extremely supersaturated (superheated) polymer–solvent systems has been studied experimentally. Spontaneous boiling-up temperatures T* for polystyrene and poly(ethylene glycol) solutions in a number of solvents have been measured at different values of pressure p and weight fraction of polymer c by the pulse heating method. The heating rate Ṫ varied from 105 to 107 K/s. For all systems studied, the values of T* have been found to increase with increasing p and c. The T*(p, c) dependence is discussed with the use of the data on the degree of compatibility of components. The peculiarities of polymeric solutions manifest themselves in the region c → 1, as follows: (i) an abrupt increase (by 1–2 orders of magnitude) in the slope of the T*(c) dependence, and (ii) the appearance of the dependence of T* values on the heating rate. Our approach to the interpretation of this result assumes a change in the initial composition of a solution in the course of heating due to polymer decomposition. An example of the extended phase diagram of a polymer–solvent system including the kinetic surface of T*(p, c) is given

Аннотация: The stability of water clusters containing nitrogen oxide molecules is studied by the molecular dynamics method. The composition and size of thermodynamically stable heteroclusters are determined. The inclusion of two molecules of nitrogen oxide into aggregates containing seven or more water molecule increases the cluster stability. The correlation between the stability of heteroclusters and the ratio of self-diffusion coefficients of molecules of different kinds is observed. The real part of the cluster permittivity is maximal in the vicinity of the frequency of 200 cm–1. The inclusion of nitrogen oxide molecules into water clusters increases the characteristic frequency of dielectric relaxation. In general, heteroclusters are more stable with respect to perturbations caused by an external electric field than pure clusters with the same number of water molecules. The clusterization of water vapors accompanied by absorption of polar molecules of impurity favors a decrease in the greenhouse effect.

Аннотация: The molecular dynamic method is employed to study the thermodynamic perameters of a two-dimensional Lennard-Jones crysyal at negative pressures. The calculations are performed for five isotherms. The lowest temperature approaches absolute zero, and the highest temperature is 35% lower that than of the triple point. The limits of attainable tension and the thermodynamic stability of the crystal as well as the lifetimes of the ultimately strained states and the relaxation times in a disordering in the crystal are estimated. The thermal characteristics of disordering in the crystalline state are revealed and investigated

Аннотация: The creep of a magnetic flux trapped in a bulk high-temperature superconductor has been studied. It has been found that the magnetic relaxation is retarded when the superconductor is placed near a ferromagnet. The value of the retardation effect depends on the sequence of magnetization and the approach of the superconductor to a ferromagnet. The magnetic relaxation is fully suppressed when a superconducting sample first is magnetized and then is brought close to a ferromagnet. An interpretation of this effect has been discussed. Being magnetized, a ferromagnet produces its own magnetic field. While penetrating into a disk sample through its planes, the ferromagnet field induces screening currents, which circulate oppositely to the current that arises upon trapping of the magnetic flux. As a result, the stability of the magnetic structure is sharply improved since opposite driving forces can act on different sections of the vortices

Аннотация: Molecular-dynamics simulations have been employed to calculate the coefficients of shear and bulk viscosity of a Lennard-Jones liquid in the temperature range T∗ = 0.4–2.0 in stable and metastable states. Penetration into the region of superheated states, as distinct from supercooled ones, does not lead to any essential changes in the shear viscosity. The bulk viscosity increases at the approach to the lines of liquid–crystal and liquid–gas equilibrium and in the metastable states. The evolution of autocorrelation functions of the components of the pressure tensor and the characteristic times of the viscoelastic relaxation of both a superheated and supercooled liquids has been investigated

Аннотация: The effect of the magnetic flux creep on the levitation stability of high-temperature superconductors was studied. It was shown experimentally that under a unipolar magnetization the levitation force decreased at a logarithmic velocity characteristic of the creep process. If the current structure was bi- or multi-polar one, which was formed in a sample exposed to a reversing external magnetic field, the force remained unchanged during a certain period of time. The theory of relaxation of magnetization and force for a partial and full penetration of the critical state was considered. It was shown that relaxation decelerated sharply if the region with a current producing the main magnetization was far from the superconductor surface. A concept of an open and internal magnetic relaxation was introduced. The time of the internal relaxation for different reverse depths was estimated. The calculated values approached the experimental values of the levitation stabilization time

Аннотация: Experimental investigation of fluctuation dynamics in critical and transitional modes of heat mass exchange shows existence of irregular high-energy pulsations with power spectrum inversely proportional to the frequency—so called 1/f spectrum. Such regimes are characterized by the fact that an essential part of the pulsations energy is connected with very slow processes and mean that large high-energy bursts are possible in the system. Another characteristic feature of such regimes is scale invariance of the fluctuations distribution function. According to the theory, the 1/f fluctuations can emerge in physical systems due to simultaneous phase transitions in presence of sufficiently intensive white noise. This paper is devoted to detailed investigation of relaxation processes at steadying of stationary stochastic process in non-equilibrium phase transitions in system of two nonlinear stochastic differential equation. Such an information reveals statistical patterns of particular large-scale low-frequency bursts. Discontinuous “forgetting” of the initial conditions takes place. It is shown by numerical methods that distributions of duration and maximal values of the low-frequency extreme bursts have the power-like form. Experimental investigation results of statistical characteristics of fluctuation processes at ultrasonic cavitation and flash boiling of overheated water jets are presented. Results of the experiments carried out fit conclusions of the theoretical model for interacting heterogeneous phase transitions

Аннотация: This study deals with the decrease in the levitation force under the action of an ac field up to the frequency at which oscillations of the superconducting suspension are limited by inertia. The lifting force was measured as a function of the ac field amplitude and the exposure time. It was shown that the force quickly decreased at the moment the ac field was applied and then continued diminishing, but at a lower rate. A qualitative model was proposed, taking into account two effects of the ac field on the magnetization of the levitating superconductor: a complete destruction of the critical state in some section of the superconductor (to a depth λac) and the initiation of a faster magnetic relaxation in the region where the induction gradient is preserved

It is suggested that the ferromagnet is magnetized in the magnetic field of the sample and, in turn, induces currents in the superconductor, which circulate in a direction opposite to that of the trapped flux current. As a result, the magnetic structure becomes stable with respect to the magnetic flux creep because oppositely directed Lorentz forces can act upon different regions of vortices.

Аннотация: The effect of an external nonuniform magnetic field on the flux creep rate in a high-temperature superconductor with trapped magnetic flux was studied. The magnetic relaxation was suppressed when the superconductor was put into a field of permanent magnets or when it approached a ferromagnet. The effect arises when the field sources (being magnetized, the ferromagnet produces its own field) are placed near the superconductor surface, where the flux line ends are located. For these cases, we carried out the calculations of vortex and current density distributions, which demonstrate that reverse currents flow in the near-surface regions of the sample. This verifies the hypothesis suggested earlier about the influence of counter Lorentz forces retarding the creep of the vortices. In the interpretation of the results, we also take into consideration the magnetic force acting on the vortex ends in the external nonuniform magnetic field that allows us to explain the experimental results, in which the current structure in the sample is unipolar

Аннотация: The effect of the suppression of flux creep in a high-temperature superconductor by counter forces exerted on the vortex ends was studied. These forces, acting in the opposite direction to the process of vortex diffusion, arise when the magnetized sample is put into a nonuniform magnetic field. The source of the field should be placed near the surface of the superconductor where the flux line ends are located. The critical states in a disk sample placed near a ferromagnet or permanent magnets were calculated. The results of the calculations verify the bipolar current structure and, therefore, the existence of counter Lorentz forces in the near-surface region. It was shown that in addition to the Lorentz force it is necessary to take into account the magnetic force acting on the vortex ends in the external nonuniform magnetic field. Аннотация: The phase structure of the rapidly quenched solid helium samples is studied by the NMR technique in dilute 3He-4He mixtures at 1.35-1.8 K. The pulse NMR method is used to measure the spin-lattice and spin-spin relaxation times for all coexisting phases. An additional spin-lattice relaxation process is found just before vitrification of the liquid inclusions in hcp matrix. The relaxation rate of the new process coincides with that of bcc solid. It has been found that the new relaxation process is observed only in the temperature region of the phase diagram where an equilibrium bcc phase exists. After the liquid inclusions vitrification has been completed, the contribution from the bcc phase is not detected. The spin-lattice relaxation times in all of coexisting phases are discussed

It was shown experimentally that in the case of real levitation (when a levitating object bears only on a magnetic field) the suspension height and consequently the lift force did not change over a long period of time.
