Аннотация: Results of the most durable Russian on-orbit experiment with the Loop Heat Pipe are analyzed in present paper. All telemetry data on temperature measurements obtained from the experimental system ALYONA during its performance period from 1989 till 1996 are compared. Estimation of the LHP operation ability during the whole period mentioned above and determination of the calculated value of transferred heat power were executed with taking into account the boundary conditions characterizing the operation mode of the experimental system ALYONA. Some results of on-ground testing, real characteristics of radiating surfaces coating and, also, the scientific spacecraft GRANAT orientation data were taken into account for analyzing. Necessary information on the Loop Heat Pipe design, used materials, preliminary on-ground testing is presented. Besides this, the information that allows to make a conclusion on the successful Loop Heat Pipe re-starting modes occurring when the spacecraft comes into the shade zone and to judge on the LHP life time is also presented. Documents provided by different LAVOCHKIN ASSOCIATION sen ices and divisions controlling the communication data obtained from the spacecraft were used for this paper preparation

Аннотация: The van der Waals gradient theory (vdW GT) is used to calculate surface tension, density profiles, adsorption, the Tolman length and to determine the position of dividing surfaces in the liquid-gas interface of an oxygen-nitrogen solution. The Helmholtz energy density (HED) is determined via an equation of state (EOS), unified for a liquid and gas, which describes stable. metastable and two-phase states of solutions. The influence parameters are calculated from data on the surface tension of pure components with the use of the mixing rule. At temperatures T > 100 K the vdW GT describes experimental data on the surface tension of oxygen-nitrogen solutions [V.G. Baidakov, A.M. Kaverin, V.N. Andbaeva, The liquid-gas interface of oxygen-nitrogen solutions: 1. Surface tension, Fluid Phase Equilib. 270 (2008) 116-120] within the experimental error. It is shown that the Tolman length, which determines the dependence of surface tension on the curvature of the dividing surface, depends considerably on the solution concentration

Аннотация: Exact partial solutions are found for the electric field distribution in the outer region of a stationary unipolar corona discharge from an ideal conical needle in the space-charge-limited current mode with allowance for the electric field dependence of the ion mobility. It is assumed that only the very tip of the cone is responsible for the discharge, i. e., that the ionization zone is a point. The solutions are obtained by joining the spherically symmetric potential distribution in the drift space and the self-similar potential distribution in the space-charge-free region. Such solutions are outside the framework of the conventional Deutsch approximation, according to which the space charge insignificantly influences the shape of equipotential surfaces and electric lines of force. The dependence is derived of the corona discharge saturation current on the apex angle of the conical electrode and applied potential difference. A simple analytical model is suggested that describes drift in the point-plane electrode geometry under saturation as a superposition of two exact solutions for the field potential. In terms of this model, the angular distribution of the current density over the massive plane electrode is derived, which agrees well with Warburg's empirical law

Аннотация: A theory of the spontaneous boiling-up of supersaturated liquid solutions, which allows for all major factors limiting growth of a nucleus, such as volatility of solution components, viscous and inertial forces, and diffusional supply of a substance to the bubble, is proposed. Two approaches to determining the work of critical nucleus formation, based on the Gibbs method of diving surfaces and the Van der Waals theory of capillarity, are reviewed. Experimental data on the kinetics of boiling-up of nitrogen-helium and oxygen-helium solutions are presented. The results of the experiments are compared to the theoretical approaches to the problem of nucleation in gassed liquids, developed by the authors
