Аннотация: This paper represents results on investigating the dynamics of boiling and disintegration of superheated liquid films and jets. The first part deals with experimental study of boiling liquid outflow through short cylindrical and slit channels. Evolution of disintegration of a hot water jet flow is observed both at low and moderate superheating and at high and limit superheating, and also for vaporization mechanisms corresponding to these superheatings. Peculiarities of disintegration of jets through slit and cylindrical channels are noticed. Results on measuring the reactive thrust of the jet through a slit channel under different geometrical conditions behind the channel outlet are represented. The 1/f fluctuations in transient regimes of superheated liquid boiling and in transient regimes of behavior of the jet shape are found. The second part of this article represents results on experimental investigation of nonsteady heat transfer and dynamics of the development of crisis phenomena at boiling of a falling subcooled liquid film in the conditions of stepwise heat release. The experimental data were obtained using synchronized high-speed infrared thermography and video. It is shown that with growth and condensation of vapor bubbles, on the liquid film interface appear large-amplitude waves that lead to considerably increasing local intensity of heat transfer. New data on the boiling incipience temperature in a subcooled liquid film, depending on the heat flux density, are obtained. It is found that the development of boiling crisis is a result of appearance of local dry patches and their subsequent growth by the mechanism of longitudinal thermal conductivity in the heat transfer wall as the equilibrium heat flux density is exceeded

Аннотация: The paper contains an analytical review of developments, results of tests and simulation of loop heat pipes (LHPs) with disk-shaped, rectangular and flat-oval evaporators. Two main directions have been noted in the development of flat evaporators, which may be arbitrarily separated into evaporators with opposite replenishment (EORs) and evaporators with longitudinal replenishment (ELRs). The bodies of such evaporators are made of stainless steel, copper, aluminum. For making wicks use is made of sintered powders and mesh of stainless steel, nickel, titanium, copper, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and ceramics. Monoporous and biporous capillary structures are considered. Water, ammonia, methanol, ethanol, and acetone have been tested as working fluids. The best results were shown by the combination "copper-copper-water" at temperatures above 70 °C, when on trials an evaporator thermal resistance of less than 0.01°C/W and a heat flux close to 1000 W/cm2 were achieved. For temperatures below 70°C the most efficient combination is "stainless steel-nickel-ammonia".

Аннотация: The objective of this work was to develop a device for cooling electronic elements with a heat power up to 30 W by its rejection and dissipation in the ambient by free air convection. The device specification assigned the temperature range of the ambient conditions from −40 to +105° C and the available space of 30(W) × 120(H) × 200(L) mm. As a result a hybrid scheme based on a loop thermosyphon was proposed, where the evaporator embodied the capillary structure. In such a scheme, the return working fluid flow was ensured by the combined action of the gravity and capillary forces. Several prototypes with different loop and evaporator designs were tested in laboratory conditions. Water and heptane were used as working fluids. The experiments showed that the role of the capillary structure locally placed in the evaporator can be efficiently implemented by both highly porous cellular materials and capillary grooves made on the evaporating surface. It is also shown that heptane can be effectively used as a working fluid which is appropriate for the temperature range requirements. At the same time the device has good mass-and-size characteristics and total thermal resistance under a nominal heat load of about 1.7° C/W

Significant fluctuations are observed in the number of hydrogen bonds in the clusters during the addition of MO 3 -ions to water-oxygen aggregates. Dielectric permittivity noticeably changes upon the addition of O 2 molecules to water clusters and nitrate ions to oxygen-containing water clusters. After the absorption of oxygen molecules and nitrate ions, water clusters markedly lose the ability to IR absorption. The Raman spectrum of a medium formed from disperse aqueous system, oxygen, and nitrate ions displays a greater number of bands than the spectrum of a system of pure water clusters

Аннотация: Two models of a flat disk-shaped evaporator of a loop heat pipe have been developed for analyzing the effect of the convective component on heat transfer in a wick, and also on heat-exchange processes in an evaporation zone. Simulation data were obtained for two evaporators. The first evaporator was made entirely of copper, and the second had a body of stainless steel and a nickel wick. The geometrical dimensions of the evaporators were equal. The diameter of the heating zone was 30 mm. Calculations were made for heat fluxes from 2.8 ⋅ 104 to 4.2 ⋅ 105 W/m2. Water was used as a working fluid. An analysis of the results has shown that the contribution of the convective component to the overall heat transfer is small. The higher the thermal conductivity of the wick, the smaller the effect that the convection has on the temperature distribution in the evaporator.

Аннотация: Abstract Thermal pulsations in a transition from a nucleate to a film regime of water boiling on a wire heater with a periodic Joule heat release have been studied experimentally. At frequencies of the periodic action smaller than 0.1 Hz the intermittency of the nucleate and film boiling regimes was observed. In this case the amplitude of thermal pulsations increased. The experiments with an additional noise source were carried out. With an increase in the intensity of the noise the power of the output periodic mode increased and reaching the maximum began to decrease. The results are interpreted as stochastic resonance when the periodic component of pulsations increases in the presence of noise. The results show that in a complex system with nonequilibrium phase transitions there can occur both the extreme fluctuations with 1/f power spectrum and stochastic resonance under external periodic action.

There was a complete breakup of the jet under both the realization of intensive heterogeneous nucleation (explosive boiling-up) in the flow and the presence of an adjacent plane behind the nozzle outlet. The complete jet breakup was accompanied by a sharp decrease of the jet recoil (the crisis of the recoil force). An explanation of the observed phenomena was given with the involvement of the Coanda effect. In both the transient regimes of boiling-up and the transition to the complete jet breakup 1/f fluctuations were observed. They pointed to the instability and possibility of large-scale outburst in the flow

Аннотация: An implementation of a cooling system with a loop heat pipe for thermal control of supercomputers is considered. For this purpose two copper-water loop heat pipes (LHPs) with an effective length of 400mm and ID/OD diameters of the vapor lines of 3/4 and 4/5mm correspondingly were designed and tested. The LHPs were equipped with a flat-oval evaporator with one-sided heat supply. The evaporator had a thickness of 7mm, a length (including the compensation chamber) of 80mm and a width of 42mm. The influence of the cooling temperature of the condenser on the LHP operating characteristics was the central issue of this research. Tests were conducted in the range of the cooling temperature from 20 to 80°C. The heat load supplied to the evaporator was varied from 20 to 600W. A mathematical model for prediction of the LHP's operating temperature has been developed. It takes into consideration three operating modes of a loop heat pipe. Аннотация: Repeat thermal tests of two high-capacity LHPs (loop heat pipes) have been conducted after their long-term storage under normal conditions. The first of them 1820 mm long with a capacity of 1200 W and water as a working fluid was made and first tested in 1985. The other device with a length of 2750 mm and a capacity of 800 W, which consisted of two ammonia LHPs joined in series, was made and tested for the first time in 1988. Both the devices were made of stainless steel and equipped with a titanium and nickel capillary structures. The tests, which were conducted in conditions similar to the initial ones, have shown that a long-term storage has not had any considerable impact on the LHP thermal characteristics. Such devices may be used in systems of utilization of low-potential heat and solar energy, and also for heating and cooling various objects

Аннотация: Results of experimental investigation into thermal pulsations with a transition from the bubble to the film boiling regime of water in a wire heater with periodic Joule release are presented. The intermittency of the bubble and film regimes was observed with the frequencies of the periodic current component lower than 0.1 Hz. The amplitude of thermal pulsations increased by a factor of approximately 4 in this case. These results are interpreted as the stochastic resonant response of the system when the periodic component of pul sations increases in the presence of noise.

Аннотация: Low-temperature crystallization of amorphous materials has been analyzed theoretically taking into account nonstationary nucleation. The kinetics of crystallization of amorphous water layers, formed by depositing molecular beams on a substrate cooled by liquid nitrogen, has been investigated by differential thermal analysis. The conditions of gas hydrate formation in low-temperature amorphous-ice layers saturated with carbon dioxide have been studied. The glass-transition and crystallization temperatures of the gas hydrates have been determined from the change in dielectric properties upon heating. Under the deep-metastability conditions, crystallization of water-gas layers leads to the formation of crystallohydrates. Gas molecules are captured by the avalanche-like nucleation of crystallization centers and, therefore, are not displaced by the moving crystal-melt interface. Gas-hydrate samples formed in nonequilibrium water-gas layers are convenient for studying their thermophysical properties
