Аннотация: Results of the most durable Russian on-orbit experiment with the Loop Heat Pipe are analyzed in present paper. All telemetry data on temperature measurements obtained from the experimental system ALYONA during its performance period from 1989 till 1996 are compared. Estimation of the LHP operation ability during the whole period mentioned above and determination of the calculated value of transferred heat power were executed with taking into account the boundary conditions characterizing the operation mode of the experimental system ALYONA. Some results of on-ground testing, real characteristics of radiating surfaces coating and, also, the scientific spacecraft GRANAT orientation data were taken into account for analyzing. Necessary information on the Loop Heat Pipe design, used materials, preliminary on-ground testing is presented. Besides this, the information that allows to make a conclusion on the successful Loop Heat Pipe re-starting modes occurring when the spacecraft comes into the shade zone and to judge on the LHP life time is also presented. Documents provided by different LAVOCHKIN ASSOCIATION sen ices and divisions controlling the communication data obtained from the spacecraft were used for this paper preparation

Аннотация: Testing of loop heat pipes (LHPs) has shown that the heat-load dependence of the operating temperature is not always unambiguous. It may have a hysteresis nature. It has been found that temperature hysteresis is connected with changes in the liquid distribution between the compensation chamber (CC) and the condenser. Analysis makes it possible to distinguish three types of temperature hysteresis. In the first case this redistribution is caused by the change in the amount of the parasitic heat flow that penetrates into the CC, which in its turn is a result of heat-transfer hysteresis in the evaporation zone. In the second, temperature hysteresis is connected with the liquid metastable state, which leads to a delay of formation of the vapor phase in the compensation chamber. The reason for hysteresis of the third type is the change of the initial liquid distribution in an LHP during a start-up

Аннотация: In the present communication we describe the design of the sub-100 fs streak-tube that may be used for commercial streak cameras manufacturing. Careful attention is paid to preparing of a very smooth input photocathode substrate on which a low surface resistance (1-5 Ohm/) photocathode of S-1 type is deposited. Our estimations have shown that the photocathode surface roughness of about tens of nanometers may restrict the ultimate time resolution at the level of 100 fs. This is the reason why the photocathode substrate surface has to be smooth within the units of nanometers. The curvature of the photocathode surface is also very important to compensate the difference in the time-of-flight of electrons emitted from the central and peripheral photocathode areas. Further modernization was conducted with a photocathode - accelerating mesh assembly. The assembly may operate with 2-3 ns (FWHM) electrical pulses of 12-15 kV amplitude. In order to improve the S/N ratio in the streaked images, a shuttering system was incorporated inside the tube. As the result, a completely new femtosecond streak tube of PV-FS-M type was designed, manufactured, and tested

Аннотация: Results of measured average expectancy time of n-pentane and n-hexane boiling-up to the boundary of attainable superheating are presented. Experiments have been carried out in glass capillaries with substantially decreasing value of the superheated liquid volume for the preset metastable state (p, T = const). Obtained data fail to prove correlation 1 JVῑ = following from the condition of homogeneity and stationarity of the random process resulting in the superheated liquid boiling-up (J is the frequency of homogenous nucleation, V is the volume of the superheated liquid, ῑ is the average life time). Thus, experiments on superheated liquid boiling-up kinetics bound with measurements of average life time in glass capillaries cannot serve a proof of the validity of classical theory of nucleation for superheated liquids since one of the ground conditions — boiling-up homogeneity — is not met
