Аннотация: Beatte ellipsometry is used to study the refractive index and absorption coefficient of liquid gallium and of a gallium–30 at. % indium alloy for wavelengths of 0.4–2.0 mm at a temperature at 373 K. The dispersion rel curves of the photoconductivity and reflectivity are calculated from the experimental data. The measured data in the infrared are used to calculate the concentration of conduction electrons and the relaxation rate. It is found that when 30 at. % of indium is introduced into gallium, the concentration of charge carriers does not change, while the relaxation rate of the conduction electrons changes substantially, and this leads to a decrease in the electrical conductivity of the liquid alloy

Аннотация: The Beattie ellipsometric method is used to investigate the index of refraction and the absorption coefficient of liquid aluminum and Al–3 at. % Ce alloy in the wavelength range from 0.44 to 2.3 mm at a temperature of 1173 K. The experimental results are used to calculate the dispersion dependences of light conductance, reflectivity, and functions of characteristic loss of electron energy. The results of measurements in the infrared (IR) spectrum are used to determine the concentration of conduction electrons, plasma frequency, relaxation frequency, and the limiting light conductance. It turns out that an addition of 3 at. % Ce to aluminum causes almost no change in the concentration of charge carriers, whereas the relaxation frequency increases, which leads to a decrease in the electrical conductivity of the liquid alloy

Аннотация: Experimentally observed optical absorption spectra of isolated pairs of chromium ions in Cs3Cr2Br9 corresponding to transitions of pairs from the ground (4A2x 2A2) state to a singly excited (4A2 xT2) state are theoretically interpreted. It is shown that the position of the exchange multiplets in the excited (4A2 x2T2) state is determined mainly by the resonance exchange interactions removing the degeneracy with respect to the exchange by an excitation within the pair. It is established that the observed fine structure of the pair in the (4A2 x2T2) state is due to a superposition of the contributions from the one- and two-center spin–orbit interaction and resonance antisymmetric exchange

The nanostructured P1 manganite–cobaltite phase with the concentration x= 0, obtained by the citrate method at a temperature of 700°C, is characterized by a valence state of cobalt ions close to 2+ and a valence state of Mn ions of about 3.5+. The P2 phase at the same calcium concentration, synthesized by the high-temperature solid-phase method at a temperature of 1300°C , is characterized by a manganese valence of 3.5+ and a cobalt valence of about 2.3+. An increase in the dopant concentration leads to an increase in the average valence of 3d ions

Аннотация: Composite magnetic powders EuO/Fe(Co) were synthesized. These composites are candidates for use as materials for spintronics devices operating at room temperature. The composites synthesized by carbothermal reduction of oxide mixtures Eu2O3 and Fe2O3(or Co3O4) contain not only europium in the main valence state (2+) but also europium in the state 3+, its content increasing with the content of the d metal and depending on technological parameters of the reduction process. The content of the trivalent europium in the composites was estimated by chemical analysis and L111-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The results obtained by these methods correlate with each other. XAS is considered to be a quantitative express method of certification of materials containing europium in various valence states
