These nanotubes were found to be more stable, than a TiSi2 monolayer. All low-dimensional TiSi2 systems are metallic with enhanced densities of Ti 3d-states at the Fermi level

Аннотация: A symmetry analysis of monoclinic, orthorhombic, and trigonal M3X2-type superstructures that can be formed in strongly stoichiometric MX y compounds with B1 structure is carried out. Channels of order-disorder transitions MX y → M3X2 are determined. It is shown that, as temperature decreases, two physically admissible sequences of transformations associated with the formation of M3X2 superstructures are possible in nonstoichiometric MX y compounds of group IV transition metals. By an example of vanadium carbide VC y , it is demonstrated that orthorhombic or monoclinic V3C2 superstructures can be obtained with the formation of a nanostructure.

Аннотация: The ceramic composites La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/Sb2O3 with different weight ratios of the components have been synthesized. Their magnetoresistive properties have been studied in weak magnetic fields. The values of negative isotropic magnetoresistance of the 90%La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/10% Sb2O3 composites at room temperature are found to be 1.2% and 14% for 0.25 and 20 kOe, respectively. The observed increase in magnetoresistance with an increase in the field has specific features of the relaxation process.

Аннотация: The results of an investigation of the structure, composition, and topography of the surface of buffer layers of CeO2, LaNiO3, and CeO2 + LaNiO3 on nonmagnetic textured NiCr9.2W2.4 substrates with a cube texture, which were prepared by pulsed laser deposition, are presented. The substrates with a buffer layer of this composition can be of interest for growing thin films and heterostructures of a wide class of oxide compounds, including superconductors of composition YBa2Cu3O7 − δ (123).

Аннотация: This work reports on the elastic, electronic properties and inter-atomic bonding of the newly discovered superconductor Th2NiC2 as obtained within ab initio calculations. We found that Th2NiC2 is mechanically stable and it will behave as a ductile material exhibiting enhanced elastic anisotropy in shear and a rather low hardness. The inter-atomic bonding in Th2NiC2 is described as an anisotropic mixture of covalent and ionic contributions, where inside [Th2C2] blocks covalent Th–C bonds emerge, and these blocks are bonded with the Ni atomic sheets through directional Ni–C bonds. Additionally, some inter-atomic ionic Th–C interactions occur owing to charge transfer Th → C. Our data reveal that for Th2NiC2 the Fermi level is located in a deep DOS minimum and the experimentally observed increase in TC in the sequence Th2NiC2 → Th1.8Sc0.2NiC2 may be explained by the growth of N(EF). We also speculate that an increase in N(EF) (and, probably, in TC) for Th2NiC2-based materials may be also achieved by an alternative way: by electron doping – for example, by partial substitution of V for Th or Cu for Ni, as well as by partial substitution of N for C with the formation of Th–Ni carbonitrides like Th2NiC2−xNx

Аннотация: A cubic model is proposed for the Ti5O5 (Ti5 O5 ≡ Ti90 18O90 18) superstructure of nonsto ichiometric titanium monoxide TixOz with double imperfection. The unit cell of the cubic Ti5O5 superstruc ture has the threefold lattice parameter of the unit cell of the basis disordered B1 structure of TixOz monoxide and belongs to space group Pm m. The channel of the disorder–order transition, i.e., TixOz (space groupFm m)–Ti5O5 (space group Pm m), includes 75 superstructure vectors of seven stars {k10}, {k7}, {k6(1)}, {k6(2)}, {k4(1)}, {k4(2)}, and {k1}. The distribution functions of Ti and O atoms over the sites of the cubic Ti5O5 superstructure are calculated. A comparison of the X ray and electron diffraction data obtained for ordered TiO1.087 monoxide with the theoretical simulation results supports the existence of the cubic Ti5O5 super structure. The cubic (space group Pm m) Ti5O5 superstructure is shown to be a high temperature structure relative to the well known monoclinic (space group C2/m) superstructure of the same type

Аннотация: Analysis of conditions of the lead hydroxide and sulfide formation in the Pb2+–H2O system was carried out with accounting for the formation of polynuclear hydroxo-complexes. This allows predicting a possibility of the lead hydroxide formation in the solution before the beginning of the synthesis of lead sulfide. The domains of the stable formation of Pb(OH)2 and PbS were calculated for the systems containing lead citrate complexes and hydroxo-complexes. The proposed calculation method can be used for the quantitative determination of the reaction mixture composition and development of the chemical deposition technology of lead chalcogenides in different morphological forms: nanocrystalline powders (hydrophobic sol), quantum dots, heterostructures of the core@shell type or films. The proposed calculation method is applicable to other chalcogenide systems containing metal ions forming mononuclear and polynuclear hydroxo-complexes

Аннотация: An X-ray diffraction study indicates that nonstoichiometric vanadium monoxide VOy ≡ VxOz (y = z/x) has a cubic structure of the DO3 type (space group Fm m), where vanadium atoms are not only at the 4(a) sites of the metal fcc sublattice, but also at the tetrahedral 8(c) sites. This circumstance fundamentally distinguishes monoxide VOy from strongly nonstoichiometric MXy compounds with the B1 structure and the same space group, where atoms M and X and structural vacancies and of the metal and nonmetal sublattices, respectively, are distributed over the 4(a) and 4(b) sites. The dependence of the filling factor q of the tetrahedral interstices by vanadium atoms on the relative content y of oxygen in VOy has been obtained. It has been shown that the composition of cubic vanadium monoxide should be represented as VOy ≡ VxOz ≡ Vx – 2q 1 – x + 2qOz 1 –z, taking into account the structure

Аннотация: The relationship between the short and long range orders in various phases of nonstoichiometric titanium monoxide (TiOy) has been analyzed for the first time. The types of the local environment of lattice sites in the metal and nonmetal (oxygen) sublattices of Ti5O5, Ti3O2, Ti2O3, and Ti4O5 superstructures are described. It is established that, in phases where ordering takes place simultaneously in both sublattices, all parameters of the superstructural short range order determining the positions of atoms and vacancies in the first three coordination spheres can be uniquely expressed via the long range order parameters. If the ordering takes place only in one sublattice, then five of the six short range order parameters vanish. It is shown that, using data on the maximum absolute values of six short range order parameters and on the fractions of occupied atomic positions in titanium and oxygen sublattices, it is possible to predict the type of ordered phase expected to form in the nonstoichiometric titanium monoxide TiOy

Аннотация: Using physicochemical methods we showed that continuous (15 days) exposure of monazite powder in humic acid (HA) solutions with different acidity gives rise to one to two orders of magnitude growth in the concentration of the monazite’ p-, d- and f-elements of Periodic Table (Mg, Al, Si, P, Pb, Ti, Bi, Sc, Ti-Zn, REE, Th, U). The growth in the elements concentration in the humic solutions contacting monazite is shown to depend on the initial concentration of HA in the solutions, pH. It is concluded that these factors should be taken into consideration when inorganic phosphates and alike phases are used as a matrix for the radionuclide wastes solidification
