Аннотация: The optical absorption and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of Li4 – xCr3xTi5 – 2xO12 (x = 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.04) solid solutions have been investigated. It has been found that, in the Li4Ti5O12 spinel, lithium ions migrate from tetrahedral to octahedral positions with increasing temperature. Doping of chromium to the spinel favors an increase in the fraction of tetrahedrally coordinated lithium and hinders diffusion

Аннотация: The structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of the binary and ternary carbides (Fe,Cr)3C and (Fe,Cr)7C3 have been investigated within the ab initio density functional theory. The crystal structure of the binary carbides has been optimized and the preferred positions for replacement of chromium or iron impurities in the corresponding carbides have been determined. The changes in the electronic structure and magnetic properties have been investigated, the formation energies of the ternary carbides as functions of the impurity concentrations have been calculated, and conclusions have been drawn regarding the influence of the impurity on the stability of the carbides under investigation

Аннотация: Experimentally observed optical absorption spectra of isolated pairs of chromium ions in Cs3Cr2Br9 corresponding to transitions of pairs from the ground (4A2x 2A2) state to a singly excited (4A2 xT2) state are theoretically interpreted. It is shown that the position of the exchange multiplets in the excited (4A2 x2T2) state is determined mainly by the resonance exchange interactions removing the degeneracy with respect to the exchange by an excitation within the pair. It is established that the observed fine structure of the pair in the (4A2 x2T2) state is due to a superposition of the contributions from the one- and two-center spin–orbit interaction and resonance antisymmetric exchange

Аннотация: Specimens of transparent alumina ceramic (TAC) are prepared by slip casting. An alumina spinel, formed during sintering under vacuum or under reducing conditions, as well as individual phases, produced by thermochemical doping with chromium and titanium, are identified. The spectra of steady-state x-ray luminescence (SXL) and pulsed cathodoluminescence (PCL) and the PCL decay kinetics are studied. The highest STL and PCL intensity were observed in specimens that were prepared by thermal diffusion using a carbon +TiO2 pack. Ti-doped TAC, characterized by a rapid decay of luminescence in the UV region, can be recommended as a promising material for the detector of a scintillation dosimeter. The luminescent chromium ions (isomorphic substituents of aluminum ions in the crystal lattice) are unsuitable for that purpose because of their long luminescence de-excitation time

Аннотация: The effect of alloying of the cementite Fe3C with chromium on the band structure, atomic interactions, electric field gradients, and asymmetry parameters for iron nuclei is investigated using the self-consistent full-potential linear muffin-tin orbital (FPLMTO) method. An increase in the cohesive energy for the Fe3C–Cr system indicates an enhancement of the atomic interactions in the lattice of the cementite alloyed with chromium. It is found that the substitution of chromium for iron in the FeII positions containing eight equivalent iron atoms is energetically most favorable

Аннотация: Using ab initio methods, the influence of chromium on the electron structure and magnetic properties of cementite Fe3C has been investigated depending on the chromium concentration and the possibility of the formation of a chromium carbide Cr3C has been considered. It has been established that it is the general positions of iron in the lattice of cementite that are most energetically preferable for the substitution by chromium. Chromium leads to a strengthening of interatomic interactions and the change in the sign of the enthalpy of formation in the Fe3 –xCrxC system at x= 1.9. The magnetic moments at the atoms of chromium and iron are oriented antiferromagnetically and the total magnetization of the alloyed system decreases with increasing chromium concentration

Аннотация: Ceramic samples of LaSr2Fe3-yCryO8+δ are characterized with X-ray powder diffraction and total conductivity measurements in the temperature range 750- 950°C and at oxygen partial pressures between 10-22 and 0.5 atm. It is shown that partial replacement of iron for chromium is an effective means to prevent structural transformation at the loss of oxygen. The isothermal ion conductivity is obtained from the analysis of the total conductivity, and it is shown to decrease with the increase in chromium doping to y = 0.6. However further increase in the chromium content to y = 1 results in an increase in the oxygen ion conductivity level. This behavior is explained with a model where the oxygen ions coordinated to chromium are not excluded entirely from the transport mechanism

Аннотация: The transition to graphite of carbons containing sulfur and the effects of added iron and chromium on this process have been studied using X-ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy. It was found that after heat treatment in the temperature interval 1300-1600°C carbons containing at least 1.5 mass% of sulfur, or 0.3 mass% of sulfur and 1.5 mass% of added Cr2O3 become heterogeneous; they consist of an ultradisperse matrix and of large (> 100 nm) and sufficiently perfect (Deltad/d002 ~ 0.002) regions of coherent scattering with interlayer spacing d002 that corresponds to the graphite-crystal structure. When disperse iron is added, the amount of the graphite phase in this temperature interval decreases by a factor of 2
