Аннотация: Методом высокотемпературного рентгенофазового анализа изучен фазовый состав системы Mg2V2O7-Ni2V2O7 в области температур от комнатной до 850 С. Показано, что фазовый переход в пированадате магния происходит с уменьшением объема элементарной ячейки на 2.25%. Фазовых превращений в пированадате никеля не обнаружено. Установлено, что равновесными продуктами взаимодействия пированадатов являются твердые растворы на основе пированадата никеляи двух модификаций пированадата магния. Показано, что с ростом концентрации никеля температура фазового перехода повышается от 760 до 820 С. Твердый раствор на основе пированадата никеля термически устойчив во всем температурном интервале

Аннотация: The present work analyses the fine structure of the low binding energy (Eb, 0–50 eV) X-ray photoelectron spectra XPS of lanthanide (La through Lu excepted for Pm) oxides, and compares it with the non-relativistic X alfa-discrete variation calculation results for the clusters reflecting the close environment of lanthanides in oxides. The obtained results show that the Ln 4fn-electrons of lanthanides in oxides by their spectral parameters have much in common with the M 3d-electrons in oxides of the 3d-transition metals. According to these data, the Ln 4f shell of lanthanides is rather outer and can participate in the formation of molecular orbitals in compounds. The XPS data at least do not contradict the theoretical suggestion about the significant participation of the Ln 4f-electrons in formation of the molecular orbitals in the studied materials. The spectra in the Ln 5p–O 2s binding energy region of the studied lanthanide oxides were found to exhibit the complicated structure instead of separated peaks due to the electrons of the Ln 5p3/2,5/2 and O 2s atomic shells. Taking into account the energy differences between the inner (Ln 3d) and outer (Ln 5p) electronic shells for some metallic lanthanides and their oxides, the Ln 5p atomic shells were shown to participate in the formation of the inner valence molecular orbitals (IVMO). That agrees qualitatively with the calculation results

Аннотация: The structures of ordered and disordered cubic TixOz= TiOy (y = z/x) phases containing both Ti and O vacancies were studied by x-ray diffraction. The results demonstrate that annealing TiOy with y = 0.9–1.1 below 1300 K leads to the formation of a monoclinic ordered Ti5O5 phase (sp. gr. C2/m (A12m/1)). Symmetry analysis of the monoclinic Ti5O5 superstructure indicates that the TiOy–Ti5O5 ordering transition is defined by the {k10} Lifshits and {k4} and {k1} non-Lifshits wavevector manifolds. The ordering is shown to be a firstorder transition accompanied by a decrease in the unit-cell volume of the parent lattice. The Ti and O distribution functions in titanium monoxide are calculated, and the Ti- and O-site near-neighbor environments in the monoclinic Ti5O5 superstructure are identified. The region of possible long-range-order parameters is outlined

Аннотация: The region of stable coexistence of Cd(OH)2 and CdS as a function of pH and the concentration of the complex-forming agent (ammonia) was determined by thermodynamic analysis with the purpose of the preparation of Cd(OH)2 cadmium hydroxide particles surrounded by cadmium sulfide CdS shells. In this region, powders were obtained by chemical precipitation during various precipitation times from aqueous solutions. X-ray diffraction was used to track the growth of the CdS nanophase of a disordered structure and hexagonal Cd(OH)2 phase consumption with time. It was found by complexonometry that part of cadmium formed insoluble structures as a result of the formation of continuous nanosized CdS shells on single crystalline Cd(OH)2 particles. A comparative analysis of the experimental data was used to determine the kinetics of formation of nucleus–shell Cd(OH)2/CdS particles in the system

The results demonstrate that the system contains a broad region of La1−x(Ca1−ySry)xMnO3 perovskite-like solid solutions in which calcium and strontium cations substitute for lanthanum. The solid solutions have an orthorhombic (Pnma), rhombohedral (R3c ), or tetragonal (I4/mcm) structure, depending on the A-site cation composition and the nature of lattice distortions. The composition regions of these structures and two-phase regions are mapped out in the LaMnO3–CaMnO3–SrMnO3 phase diagram

Аннотация: The solid-phase interaction in the V2O5–Nb2O5–MoO3 system has been investigated, and the formation of a solid solution bounded by the compositions MoNb2V4O18–δ,Mo2NbV5O21–δ, Mo2Nb3V3O21 – δ, and Mo4Nb9V9O57 – δ has been found (δ is nonstoichiometry). In the V2O5–Nb2O5 system, the formation of three compounds is verified, namely, VNbO5 (tetragonal structure), VNb9O25, and V2Nb23O62.5. The first two compounds are isostructural and form a continuous solid solution with tetragonal symmetry. A new compound of the composition Mo3NbVO14 – δ has been synthesized. This compound is isostructural to the Mo3Nb2O14 compound described in the literature and forms a tetragonal solid solution with it. The phase equilibria in the V2O5−Nb2O5–MoO3 system in the subsolidus region have been determined

Аннотация: The products of thermobaric treatment of the metastable Re0.50Rh0.50 nanocrystalline phase (a = 2.733(2) Å, c = 4.364(4) Å, space group P63/mmc, CSR ~5 nm) in a high-pressure chamber were studied. Storage of the phase at 2000C and 1.5 GPa for 3 min led to the formation of a fused particle (diam.~1 mm). The initial composition did not change, but the coherent scattering region (CSR) increased to 52 nm. An increase to 4 GPa in pressure also did not lead to a decomposition of the metastable Re0.50Rh0.50 phase, the unit cell parameters remained the same, and the size of the CSR increased by a factor of four

Аннотация: The structural, electronic, and magnetic properties and the enthalpy of formation of iron borocementites Fe3C1 –xBx(x= 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00) are analyzed using ab initio calculations in the framework of the electron density functional theory. It is found that the unit cell parameter a of the orthorhombic lattice increases linearly and the parameters b and c decrease as the boron concentration increases. The density of states at the Fermi level changes only slightly, and the main variations in the band structure occur in the region of the bottom of the valence bands. The magnetic moment of the iron atoms and the total magnetization and stability of the Fe3C1 –xBx phases increase linearly with an increase in the boron concentration

Аннотация: The effect of particle size on the thermal expansion of nanostructured lead sulfide films produced by hydrochemical deposition has been studied. The coherent scattering region size and thermal expansion coefficients of PbS nanofilm have been measured depending on the annealing temperature in the interval 293–473 K and on the duration of annealing at a constant temperature of 423 K. It is found that the thermal expansion coefficient α of nanostructured PbS film is nearly twice as large as that of bulk lead sulfide. It is shown that the observed large difference in the coefficients α is due to the small size of PbS particles in the film that leads to the change of the phonon spectrum boundaries and to the growth of anharmonicity of atomic vibrations. The additional contribution to the thermal expansion coefficient caused by the small particle size in PbS nanofilm is estimated theoretically.

Аннотация: Precipitation of crystalline ZrC in the surface region of dilute ZrC–NbC solid solutions (1.0 mol % ZrC) was revealed by electron microscopy, x-ray microanalysis, laser mass spectrometry, and x-ray diffraction. The ZrC precipitation was shown to be a consequence of the diffusional decomposition of the dilute Zr1 – xNbxC solid solutions. The boundaries of the solid-miscibility gap in the ZrCy–NbCy system were calculated. The segregation energy of zirconium carbide was estimated at –33.3 kJ/mol
