Аннотация: The parameters of hyperfine interactions on 51V nuclei were determined on films of the inclusion compound H2VI2031-y.n H20 at different stages of hydration. It was established that the axial symmetry plane of the magnetic interaction tensor coincides with the film plane. The most probable direction (40 ° of the film plane) and the magnitude of the electric field gradient (EFG) on 51V nuclei (eqQ/h = 0.233 MHz) were found for a completely dehydrated sample. An analysis of the line width angular dependences of satellites has shown the existence of a disorientation of the main EFG direction with a distribution width of about 50 ° in the film plane. The absence of satellites and the presence of an angular dependence of the 51V NMR central signal of hydrated samples allowed the conclusion that the interaction of the V--O layer with molecules of water led to an increase in the disorientation of the film plane

Аннотация: Speciation and extractability of humic acids (HAs) and humate complexes of microelements are studied using the colloidal chemical extraction method in combination with ICP MS with an example of natural mineral water with high HA concentration (800 -1200 mg l(1) collected from the Salekhard region. Joint extraction behavior of ionic and colloid forms of anionic and cationic species of a large number of microelements, including U(VI) and Th(IV), and HAs is examined at their natural abundance in mineral water, as influenced by pH and HA concentration. Humic acids proved to behave in natural water as a pool of ioncolloidal species, whose protonation results in precipitation at pH 2.0 -3.5. In this case, some chemical elements are sorbed on the resulting solid and may be separated along with HAs by colloidal chemical extraction into isobutanol. In natural humate solutions, a considerable fraction (10 -99 mol %) of chemical elements is associated with HAs in the form of colloid species extractable with isobutanol

When the product of activities of calcium and sulfate ions is artificially exceeded, a nonequilibrium phase with the solubility close to that of CaSO4 is formed. This phase is extracted into a paraffin melt. Colloidal-chemical extraction of calcium sulfate with paraffin melt and sorption of microcomponents (single-, double-, and triple-charged cations) on calcium sulfate precipitates were studied. The precipitate has high affinity for cesium traces (Kd ~10(3) mg g1) in supersaturated solutions. Some cation species are not sorbed on the precipitate

Аннотация: The stability and electronic properties of complexes of single-walled carbon nanotubes wrapped by homopolymeric single-stranded DNA molecules (CNT@DNA) are considered using a quantum mechanical density-functional tight-binding method (DFTB). A phenomenological model of the CNT@DNA formation energy depending on the nanotube radii is developed,which shows that the decoration of a CNT by a few DNA chains leads to a high water solubility of CNT@DNA. Pyrimidine-based DNAs are found to be more effective to wrap the CNTs than other DNAs. The densities of states of the CNT@DNA complexes are close to the superposition of those of the ‘free’ components with some additional states below the Fermi level. The band gap in a hybrid CNT@DNA system is determined by the competition between the Fermi levels of the ‘free’ DNA and CNT. In a few specific cases a considerable charge transfer from the DNA to the CNT was observed, combined with an additional gain in the CNT@DNA formation energy

Аннотация: The effect of ethylene glycol (EG) on the formation of whiskers and fibers of complex oxides with the general formula MCo2O4 upon the thermolysis of M1/3Co2/3C2O4(M = Zn, Mn) oxalates has been studied. New compounds (solvates) are formed when powdered oxalates are heated with EG. In the solvates, EG molecules substitute for water molecules according to the reaction M1/3Co2/3C2O4· 2H2O + HOCH2CH2OH =M1/3Co2/3C2O4(HOCH2CH2OH) + 2H2O. The solvates have been characterized using X-ray powder diffraction, microscopy, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, and chemical analysis. The shape, structure, and particle size of the thermolysis products of EG-modified oxalates have been determined using scanning electron microscopy

Аннотация: Published data on the speciation of microcomponents and radionuclides (calcium, strontium, plutonium, and americium) in the water and bottom sediments of selected process water basins at the Mayak Production Association were discussed in terms of the model of the sorption behavior of a sorbate existing in several forms. It was shown that distribution of calcium, 90Sr, and natural isotopes of strontium does not contradict the views on formation of Ca2+, CaSO4 0 , Sr2+, SrSO4 0 , Sr[SO4]2(2) ionic and molecular species and of colloidal sulfate (CaSO4 .2H2O) at selected sites of the water basin. By combining these factors it is possibleto explain the variation in the distribition coefficients of Ca, Sr, Pu, and Am in the water3bottom sedimentssystem in terms of the model of ion-exchange sorption in the presence of nonsorbable nonequilibrium colloid

Аннотация: The effect of Al-REM binary alloys’ composition on the kinetics of their surface oxidation by water is studied by means of ellipsometry and IR spectroscopy. Intermetallides with ∼21 at % rare-earth metal in aluminum are oxidized in distilled water at 100°C, along with alloys of eutectic composition (Al-∼2 at % REM) in solid and disperse state. It is found that the kinetic dependences of the thickness of films formed on pollycrystalline alloy samples and the IR transmission spectra of dispersed samples show that increasing the quantity of dopant REM in aluminum lowers the reactive capability of aluminum under certain conditions. It is found that the experimental ellipsometric results are described by a two-layer model consisting of a substrate, an inner oxide layer and an outer layer of hydroxide.

Аннотация: The reactions of ethylene glycol with iron and cobalt oxalates upon heating in air are reported. Heat treatment of mixtures of oxalate powders with ethylene glycol yields new compounds (solvates) via the replacement of the water molecules in the oxalate structure by ethylene glycol molecules: MC2O4·2H2O+HOCH2CH2OH=MC2O4(HOCH2CH2OH)+2H2O↑. The crystals resulting from this reaction are elongated, and their shape is inherited by their thermolysis products. Thermolysis in air yields microwhiskers and nanowhiskers of Fe2O3and Co3O4, and thermolysis in an inert atmosphere affords Fe3O4and Co whiskers. The thermolysis of FeC2O4(HOCH2CH2OH) in helium yields a new structural modification of FeC2O4 as an intermediate product. The resulting compounds and their thermolysis products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, microscopy, IR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric and chemical analyses. Аннотация: The binding energies and valence state of atoms in the perovskite-like compound CaCu3V4O12 have been determined using XPS spectroscopy. The stoichiometry of this phase is formulated as Ca2+Cu2+(V2(5+)V2(4+)O12). Under an air atmosphere, the phase interacts with water vapor and oxygen. As a result, Ca(OH)2 is formed on its surface, the Cu+ and V4+ ion concentrations decrease, and the Cu2+ and V5+ concentrations increase in association. Raman spectra show shortened cation–anion bond lengths and cation–anion–cation bond angles in CaCu3V4O12 compared to perovskite CuVO3; the two structures are alike. The electrical conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, thermal and sensor properties of CaCu3V4O12 in aqueous salt solutions have been studied

Аннотация: The 333-K complex impedance and temperature-dependent 10-kHz electrical conductivity of the cell Ni|(PbOH)2V12O31 · nH2O|Ni were measured. The results demonstrate that heat treatment changes the conductivity of (PbOH)2V12O31 · nH2O. After the removal of hydrate water, the activation energy for conduction in the range 203–485 K is 0.27 eV. The polarization resistance of the Ni electrodes is 31% of the total resistance of the cell at 296 K and is nearly zero above 303 K. The potential of the system lead polyvanadate/lead varies linearly with the Pb2+ concentration in aqueous Pb(NO3)2 solutions

Аннотация: Results are provided for a study of the kinetics and mechanism of phase transitions (PT) of gibbsite during heat treatment in air and in water vapor (in the range 170 – 550°C) by iso- and non-isothermal thermogravimetry, x-ray-phase analysis (XPA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), nuclear magnetic resonance in 27Al nuclei (NMR27Al), and chemical analysis. It is shown that PT of gibbsite in air there are two interconnected transitions that occur in parallel: gibbsite → boehmite (γ-AlOOH) and gibbsite → x-ray amorphous Al2O3 that are realized by a topochemical mechanism. In water vapor gibbsite only experiences transition to boehmite (PT-3) that occurs by a dissolution – precipitation mechanism. Apparent activation energies for the PT that occur are determined

Аннотация: In H2VI2031-y.nH20 films with different degrees of hydration, parameters of hyperfine interaction on SlY nuclei have been determined. It has been established that the of axial symmetry plane of the tensor of magnetic interactions coincides with the plane of the film. For a completely dehydrated specimen, values have been found for the most probable direction (40 ~ from the plane of the film) and magnitude of the electric field gradient (EFG) on SiV nuclei (eq-Q/h = 0.2333 MHz). Analysis of the angular dependence of the width of the satellites has shown the presence of disorientation of the principal direction of the EFG with a width of distribution about 50 ~ in the plane of the film. In view of the absence of satellites and the presence of an angular dependence of the central transition of the 51V NMR spectra of the hydrated specimens, it can be stated that the interaction of the V-O layer with water molecules leads to an increase of disorientation in the plane of the film. The change in magnetic shifts is discussed, and it is concluded that there is a nonuniform change of population of the conduction band upon dehydration

Аннотация: Powder X-ray diffraction and microscopy have been used to study phase ratios of the M2O–V2O5–SO3 (M = Rb, Cs) systems, which model the active component of rubidium–vanadium and cesium–vanadium catalysts for sulfuric acid production at high sulfur dioxide conversions. We have stated that each system forms four compounds: M3VO2(SO4)2, MVO2SO4, M4V2O3(SO4)4, and MVO(SO4)2. The thermal properties of these compounds and their interaction with water vapor saturated at room temperature have been studied. The unit cell parameters have been determined for the compounds MVO2SO4 (M = K, Rb), MVO(SO4)2, and M[VO2(SO4)(H2O)2] · H2O (M = Rb, Tl). The reciprocal transformations of the components and phases of the M2O–V2O5–SO3 systems match the Lux–Flood ideas of the acid–base properties of oxide compounds

ФАЗОВЫЕ ПЕРЕХОДЫ -- ТЕРМООБРАБОТКА -- АЛЮМИНИЙ
Аннотация: The kinetics and mechanism of phase transitions (PTs) in gibbsite (γ-Al(OH)3) under heat treatment in air and water vapor (170–550°C) have been investigated by iso- and nonisothermal thermogravimetry, X-ray phase analysis, transmission electron microscopy, 27Al nuclear magnetic resonance, and chemical analysis. It is shown that (i) the gibbsite PT in air involves two interrelated transformations occurring simultaneously:(1) gibbsite -> boehmite (γ-AlOOH) and (2) gibbsite -> X-ray-amorphous alumina (Al2O3); both areimplemented through the topochemical mechanism; and (ii) in water vapor only transformation of gibbsite into boehmite occurs (PT-3), which is implemented through the dissolution–precipitation mechanism. The apparent activation energies of the PTs under consideration have been determined

Аннотация: The electrical conductivity of H2- x(NH4)xV9Mo3O32.5-delta · nH2O xerogel films containing different amounts of ammonium ions and water was measured as a function of temperature. The results demonstrate that, in a wide temperature range, the proton conductivity of the films reaches a maximum at x = 1.5. The activation energy of conductivity in the films, equal to 0.1–0.2 eV at low temperatures, rises upon partial dehydration above 100 °C. The possible mechanisms of proton formation and transport are discussed
