Аннотация: The influence of the [KF]/[AlF3] ratio (1.1–1.5 mol mol−1), the Al2O3 concentration (1–5 wt.%) and the temperature (973–1073 K) on the overpotential of the anode process for a glassy carbon electrode in a KF–AlF3–Al2O3 melt under stationary and non-stationary conditions was studied by galvanostatic polarisation and chronopotentiometry. A theoretical (mathematical) description of the two-step electrode process at the carbon anode in KF–AlF3–Al2O3 melts under stationary and non-stationary conditions is suggested. The charge of the electric double-layer, the formation of an intermediate COads adsorption product at the anode surface, the limitations of the current transfer, which include the charge transfer through the electrode/electrolyte interface, and the diffusion and chemical interaction of the electroactive ions in the melt near the anode surface were taken onto account. Alterations of the basic parameters of the process were monitored and analysed. Estimates of anode process kinetics parameters (e.g., exchange current densities and the degree of the anode surface coverage by the intermediate product COads) for different experimental conditions were made by a comparison of the modelled and experimental polarisation curves. The electrochemical desorption of the intermediate product COads from the anode surface (the second step) was shown to be relatively slower than the charge transfer process (the first step). In addition, slow chemical reactions at current densities of 0.1–1 A cm−2 can occur prior to the electrode process.

Аннотация: The electrochemical reduction of Pb(2), Zn(2) and Mg(2) ions at glassy carbon and tungsten electrodes in molten KCl-LiCl eutectic was studied by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), convolutive potential sweep voltammetry (CPSV), chronopotentiometry and chronoamperometry. In the case of lead deposition, the initial nucleation stage was found to influence the shape of the voltammetric current peak. CPSV was consequently believed to be a more reliable method than LSV for the calculation of the diffusion coefficient of the Pb(2) ion. Similar complications were not observed for zinc and magnesium since the nucleation overpotentials for these metals were significantly lower than for lead. On the other hand, lithium codeposition made it difficult to interpret the zinc and especially the magnesium convolution voltammograms

Аннотация: Stimulated diffusion of protons in oxides such as ABO3 crystals and rutile TiO2 is discussed in the context of quantum Brownian motion. A self-consistent lattice-assisted proton hopping (LAPH) model is developed by going from white noise (characteristic of the standard stochastic theory of superionic conduction) to colored noise in the Markovian limit. This model differs from the commonly used ion jump models in that the hydrogen diffusion rate prefactor is identified as a quantity proportional to the frequency of phonon assistance. Application of the quantum fluctuation–dissipation theorem suggests that the dynamic activation energy for diffusion is a function of a bath-mode frequency. The LAPH model can predict enhanced rates of barrier jumping at room temperature compared to thermally activated proton diffusion. This indicates that low-temperature solid oxide devices are potential candidates for use in hydrogen energy research. The LAPH model offers a valid explanation for the mechanism of high protonic mobility recently observed for TiO2 in a picosecond transient pump-probe experiment. This unexpected dominant lattice relaxation channel must be considered as a new classical-like (but low-temperature) proton transfer mechanism. For vibration-assisted protonic jumps to occur at low temperature, the phonon assistance must be classified as a low-frequency vibration specific to each lattice
