Аннотация: The present paper describes unusual reactions of lithium enolate of ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxobutanoate with ammonium acetate and 1-aminonaphthalene. These reactions produce 4-amino-2,6-bis(trifluoromethyl)pyridine and 4-trifluoromethyl-2-[(Z)-1,1,1-trifluoroprop-1-en-2-ol-1-yl]benzo[h]quinoline, respectively. The reaction of 1,1,7,7,7-hexafluoroheptane-2,4,6-trione hydrate with 1-naphthylamine gives a mixture of 4-trifluoromethyl-2-[(Z)-1,1,1-trifluoroprop-1-en-2-ol-1-yl]benzo[h]quinoline and N,N′-bis(naphth-1-yl)-2,6-bis(trifluoromethyl)pyridine-4(1H)-imine, respectively

Аннотация: New tetranuclear Cu(II) complex [Cu4(L)4]·MeCN (1) with 2,6-di(5-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine (H2L) was synthesized. It has been shown that treatment of 1 with selected aza-ligands (pyridine, 2,2′- and 4,4′-bipyridyl, 2,3,5,6-tetra-(pyridine-2-yl)pyrazine, 2,2′;6′,2″-terpyridine and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) leads to formation of other Cu(II) complexes with different nuclearity: [Cu(L)py2] (2), [Cu(L)(2,2′-bpy)] (3), [Cu(L)2(tppz)]·THF (5), [Cu(L)tpy]·C6H5CN (4), {[Cu2(L)2(4,4′-bpy)2]·(C6H5CH3)·MeCN}n (6) and {[Cu(L)DABCO]·2MeCN}n (7). Obtained compounds were characterized by IR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography data, EPR and SQUID magnetic measurements. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Аннотация: 2,6-Bis(5-trifluoromethylpyrazol-3-yl)pyridine (H2L) and its mono-, tri-, and tetranuclear NiII complexes were synthesized for the first time. All the obtained compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In the complexes, 2,6-bis(5-trifluoromethylpyrazol-3-yl) pyridine exists in the neutral and dianionic forms and exhibits different coordination modes (κ3-, μ2-κ3: κ1-, and μ3-κ3: κ1:κ1). The electrochemical and magnetic properties of all compounds were studied. The tetranuclear NiII complex with the L2- dianion is reduced in two sequential reversible one-electron steps

Аннотация: We report on the synthesis and temperature-dependent magnetic properties observed in an exchange-coupled copper(ii) dimer using X/Q-band Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy (9/34 GHz). It has been found that the zero-field splitting (D) in the dimer changes gradually by a factor close to two in the temperature range from T = 50 to 300 K. X-ray diffraction data show that this dimer consists of two five-coordinated copper ions, one of which has a highly asymmetric geometry intermediate between square pyramid and trigonal bipyramid. The copper-copper distance in the dimer is temperature-independent, whereas the degree of trigonality in an asymmetric unit decreases as the temperature is lowered. Therefore we suppose that the observed dependence D(T) originates from the interplay of different exchange interaction pathways driven by these thermal changes. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal weak ferromagnetic interactions, whose anisotropic parts should indeed be very sensitive to the subtle changes in the geometry and may result in apparent D(T). The reactions of the synthesized compound with amines proceed, depending on their nature, via substitution of either the F(7) atom or the SMe fragment in the 2-position. The antiviral activity of the obtained 6,7,8-trifluoro-2-ethylthioquinazolin-4-ones was investigated using monkeypox virus, smallpox vaccine, and ectromelia virus. Аннотация: 5-Bromopyrimidine reacts with 2,2′-bithiophene, [2,2′:5′,2″]terthiophene and 2-phenylthiophene in the presence of a palladium catalyst to give 5-(het)aryl substituted pyrimidines due to the palladium-catalyzed aryl–aryl C–C coupling. However 5-bromo-4-(het)aryl-pyrimidines have been prepared from the same starting materials through the SNH-reaction catalyzed by a Lewis acid. Conditions for both types of reactions were optimized. All components of the reaction mixtures, including by-products, have been elucidated by gas–liquid chromatography/mass-spectrometry. Evidence for the structure of 4- and 5-bithiophenyl-substituted pyrimidines has first been obtained by means of X-ray crystallography analysis. Reactions of 4-(3-ethynyl-phenylamino)-1,1,1-trifluoro-pentyl-3-en-2-one with Cu(II) acetate or nanosized powder of copper or its oxides led to the respective chelate complex. Аннотация: The study of the toxicity of triazavirin, a new antiinfluenza agent, showed that the maximum concentration of the drug, inducing no microscopically visible changes in the structure of the monolayer and the cells of the MDCK and SKEV cell cultures, was 128 and 100 mcg/ml respectively. The maximum drug dose for single intraperitoneal administration inducing no signs of acute intoxication in albino mice weighing 10-12 g was 1000 mg/kg. In investigation of the chronic toxicity it was shown that oral administration of the drug (by 0.05 ml) to the albino mice in a dose of 200 mg/kg (maximum possible concentration by the solubility) daily for 10 days was well tolerated by the laboratory animals. The maximum tolerable dose of triazavirin for the albino mice was 200 mg/kg.

Аннотация: A number of new 5,6-disubstituted benzimidazoles have been prepared and their substrate properties for recombinant E. coli purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP; the product of the deoD gene) in the transglycosylation reaction were investigated. The heterocyclic bases showed good substrate activity for PNP and the ribo- and 2-deoxyribonucleosides were synthesized. The predominant (OMe and OEt) or exclusive (Oi-Pr, morpholino, and N-methylpiperazino) formation of the 5-substituted 6-fluoro-1-(β-d- ribofuranosyl)benzimidazoles was observed. The formation of the regioisomeric 6- methoxy-, 6-ethoxy-, or 6-isopropoxy-substituted 1-(2-deoxy-β-d- ribofuranosyl)-5-fluorobenzimidazoles was observed in the trans-2- deoxyribosylation reaction of the corresponding bases. The predominant or exclusive formation of the regioisomeric N1-nucleosides with bulky 5-substituents of 6-fluorobenzimidazole points to a large hydrophobic pocket in the E. coli PNP active site that can accommodate these groups. The biological activity of the synthesized nucleosides was studied and revealed no inhibitory activity against a broad variety of DNA and RNA viruses. Аннотация: Six novel donor–π–acceptor organic dyes bearing a pyrimidine as the anchoring group have been obtained in good yields by combination of the microwave-assisted Suzuki cross-coupling and nucleophilic aromatic substitution of hydrogen reactions. Their absorption, photoluminescence and electrochemical properties were fully investigated in detail. The infrared spectra of dyes adsorbed on TiO2 indicate the formation of coordinate bonds between the pyrimidine ring of dyes and the Lewis acid sites (exposed Tin+ cations) of the TiO2 surface. This work demonstrates that the pyrimidine rings of dye sensitizers that form a coordinate bond with the Lewis acid site of a TiO2 surface are promising candidates as the electron-withdrawing anchoring group. The data from quantum calculations show that all of the dyes are potentially good photosensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells
