If we consider the term "nation" in its European meaning • it is a form of inside organisation of territorial community. But the Russian state was always supra-national state. It was always the center of Over the World Community, regardless of its religious or secular form: as Christian "Third Rome”, or communist "Homeland of World Proletariat", — it doesn’t matter.
Moreover, national identifications as "Russians" and then - "Soviet" was never been national identification in European meaning of the term. It was always been sacred identification. Regardless would it be identification with the Orthodox Christlandome or with the Only Right Doctrine of Marx under Communist administration. That is why modern ideological myth of Russian identity have to base on two origins: (l)cultural background and unconscious attitudes of post-Orthodox Christian mentality; (2)futurological project of Russian modernisation.
The main scientific and political problem boils to the most effective and culturally well-founded combination of these two positions in political discours. Basic idea of such combination is connected with culturological analysis of modernity and post-modernity Chrictian roots. "Modernity as perfection of Christian origins” — this is the basic formula and the first step to combine Russian cultural background with any projects of Russian modernisation.
But the following step is more difficult. It is necessary to find and found the proper place of Russian national identity in modern post-Christian context. The hypothesis of the paper consists of the following: special place of modern Russian post-religious identity in common Christian heritage of modern civilization is determined by special character of Orthodox-Christian sacredness. This cne may be described as more "speculative-mistical" and "theoretical" compare with rather "practical" West Christianity.
