A specimen of silica with cubic bicontinuous system of pores (MCM-48) was prepared with use of method for hydrothermal template synthesis. X-ray phase analysis in low-angular interval 2ʘ had evidenced this structure. High textural parameters of the specimen (specific surface area SBET=1760 m2/g) were determined. Investigation in dimensions of particles with use of methods: (a) dynamic lightscattering and (b) scanning electron microscopy had demonstrated availability of two maximums in distribution pattern, namely ≈ 100 nm and ≈ 450 nm. Mesoporous silica (MCM-48), being a classic diamagnetic in the case of coarse-grained powders, was shown to manifest distinct magnetic properties in hysteresis curves over entire temperature interval of measurements (4-300 K).
