A method for computational simulation of capillary forces acting between dispersive component particles connected by a liquid interlayer has been developed. The method considers sizes and shape of particles, distances between them, a type of their “contact”, the volume and shape of liquid interlayers, the values of surface tension of the liquid, and of wetting angle. The computational interrelationships used in the method were based on experimental measurements of capillary forces. The capillary forces acting between cone-shaped and sphere-shaped particles, as well as capillary pressure in the liquid interlayer were computationally simulated. The shape and sizes of particles, distances between them and the structure of their surfaces determining the “contact” type were ascertained to be main parameters influencing the capillary force values. Values of limiting distances between particles, not leading to disruption of liquid interlayers in the case of shifting particles have been determined. A computational appraisal of the energy value requisite to disrupt the liquid interlayer between particles, while either shifted or partitioned, has been made.
