A method to obtain the doped titanium dioxide (of globularly structured anatase modification) thermally stable at 600°C has been developed. The method is based on conjoined hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride and of small proportions of inorganic iron/cobalt salts in ammoniac medium at room temperature. Under these conditions, stabilization of the anatase occurs at the expense of an intermediate Ti-O-Me structure formed. Inorganic salts in quantities of Смe = 2-6 wt% recalculated for a metal-dopant are offered as stabilizers of anatase modification. The doping of titanium dioxide with transition metal ions has been ascertained to lead to a shift of the absorption band edge in diffuse reflection spectra to the visible light spectrum, this phenomenon being accompanied by the narrowed prohibited zone.
